I had one of mine on my FR 14's come off, assumes it was because the brake was removed and snow could get in there. I actually bought a pair of the Older freeraider 14's this year for my biggest ski and think that it is a way nice design and very similar weight once brakes are removed!.
Sorry, man. I had to ski too much powder before getting back to this. Snow did build up there, but the same snow would probably build up between the free ride posts, and it wasn't ever a problem. This is what they would look like if I did put them on. There is a tiny screw to hold them to the binding, it appears the gap there at the front would remain.
Thanks for the pics, check out the pics on the Front 12 which I think has that same piece: https://www.atkbindings.com/en/prodo...en/front-12-4/. I don't think there should be a gap like that.
Anyways as you noted...seems pretty useless to prevent snow from packing anywhere, but it's also only $15 but probably gives a cleaner look overall.
WTB a pair of ski crampon holders for my Trofeos. Anyone have?
cb - I think you're talking about something else. The screws on the underside of the plastic stomp/afd piece just attach it to the brake wire. There's no adjustment.
I think CaliBrit is talking about the freeride spacer AFD (since it also is sliding) has to be adjusted to the specific boot. Atree - I think you're talking about the AFD on the brakes which I guess has a screw underneath that works out.
I will say the fact that the freeride spacer AFD screws are not machine screws concerns me about the longevity of the spacer. Eventually I could see those stripping out if you're switching boots often.
Was on the BD website and noticed that they are now selling a fully ATK-branded Crest, and a new plate that allows ATK brakes to be added to helio bindings.
Looks like BD will distribute ATK bindings in the US going forward. Post from Utah Skimo today says:

...First, our series sponsor @blackdiamond_snow is proud to announce that it is launching North American distribution of @atk_bindings . Yep, the bindings that you see on many of the world cup athletes will be here in 2021! And yes we are raffling off a pair of ATK Trofeo 10 bindings tomorrow night!

Only a matter of time before Telemark Pyrenees and other euro sites get banned from shipping to US and Canada, if you don't have a BD pro deal time to buy
The BD350 is just the raider 12 yea? And with the move of the brake back to heel (as opposed to the toe) ramp of raider 12 is still 11/11.5ish?
Hmmm, interesting.
So after my great experience with two pairs of the Moment Voyager 14's, I'm pretty sure I want a pair of the Trofeo Plus for an ultralight setup. That's my lightest option with heel length adjust and a flat mode, right?
Yes, lightest by ~20g. Followed by: Helio 200LT at 400g w/adj plates, Superlite 150 at 410g w/adj plate; Plum Oazo 6 is 412g and Helio 200 is 420g.
My wife and two friends ski the Helio145 (non-plus Trofeo) and love it, as many do on this thread. Amazing construction and features for the weight. I've got the Helio 200 and am still super happy.
You can put an adjustment plate on the World Cup and its sort of got a flat mode. The Hagan site with the rebranded version says:
"Flat mode" can be enabled by mounting the heel piece 5 to 5.5 millimeters behind the boot heel instead of the standard 4 millimeters. The rotary release uses a ball and spring mechanism. When mounted, the ball and spring are retained by the ski surface when rotated. Rotated unmounted, the ball and spring will go flying out and a long search may ensue.

I have Crests 10 and ZGTP’s, my daughter has Crest 8 and Switched from Procline to Backlands. I have done some weird bushwacking while skinning, but never came out of the bindings. Same for my daughter. We did try skinning in ski mode (first click as Galibier mentions), but even my daughter, with 139cm skis, skinned them off right away.
FWIW, I have Crest 10's mounted on some fishscale based skis (Voile V6 99mm underfoot, 178cm), and I had no problem breaking trail, or following a set skin track through low angle terrain with the toes unlocked when I gave it a try. I just stepped in and headed on up.
I don't always use them that way, but I was pleased with their ability to not release while ascending.
Although I also skin with the toes on my G3 Ions unlocked unless it's a particularly slick skin track or frozen spring/summer snow.
Most of my winter touring is low angle enough that kick turns aren't required on the way up.
Am I the only one struggling to screw the crampon holder into the Trofeo toe piece? Doesn't seem like it slides all the way under so that the screw hole aligns - I have to screw it in a bit off-axis or it won't go in.
Attachment 367506
Not sure if you can see, but the screw is slightly off-vertical (and there's only one in). Obviously not preferable, but is this fine if the crampon holder isn't moving? If it's functional, I'm fine leaving it like this, even if it marks me as a disgusting jong.
Can the freeride spacers be mounted to any ATK? Hoping to use w/ Haute route 10...

You aren't the only one, had a hard time doing this on my crests also and the bad angle started stripping the holes. I think I was able to align the holes better by squeezing the crampon piece into the binding with a vise grip. Definitely would have been easier to just install that before mounting.

Been discussed in here a lot. There are two freeride spaces: AL09 and AL05.
AL09 only works with Freeraider, Raider, and Front bindings. There are special cutouts under the heel piece to fit the AL09 spacer.
The AL05 is universal and can be used with any binding whatsoever, but requires you to drill a hole for it. It's basically a height adjustable spacer with an moving AFD on top.
Also check distance between your boot heel and ski, the lowest setting on the spacer isn't that low and so it can't be used with all boot/binding combos. Some people have filed them down though.

Does anyone know if you could use the freeride spacer from the fr14 with the brake/adjustment plate that BD is selling for race heels? That seems intriguing
Does anyone know where I can buy the AL05 spacer?

I found a deal on some SL World Cup skimo race bindings and I'm thinking about putting them on some 80-90mm skis for mountaineering and fast backcountry tours. The ATK site says that they are compatible with skis <70mm, but is there any reason not to put them on slightly fatter skis? It looks like they have the same mount pattern as the Trofeo
I have an AL07 that I don't think I'm going to use. I meant to buy the AL05 but got mixed up. Someone can correct me but it seems the main difference is that AL07 doesn't ship with a wood screw for mounting.
Was going to put them on some powder skis with trofeo/helio 180s, but honestly they ski just fine without them in pow and I'm not sure I want to go through the trouble of grinding them down to fit.
PM me if you are interested.
