how tf does embedding work these days?
I'm with Lone Star on this one, it's all good info/scuttlebutt regardless of stoke or lack thereof. I think when wra/WoW started the original thread who knows however many years back, he had the beta aspect in mind over the mindless (though appreciated) look-at-me-skiporn.
I seem to recall that this was the original regional thread, as well.
Meanwhile, at Snowbird...

In searching for pictures I noticed 12/2/2017 had a completely bare S facing LCC one this date, so at least we have a bit more now than we did then.
EDIT: the 2nd picture might be me too actually...he'll have to confirm
Just listened to UAC on the gram. A bleak picture was painted. Apparently right now north facing above 9000 feet is about a foot and a half of facets down to the surface. With no snow in the forecast they are bound to get bigger and even looser than they are. Once it snows there is going to be a huge weak layer which will give way to the ground. Just something to keep in mind
^^^^ eek. yeah. usually with no October precip and 60 inches of snow falling on bare ground in november we are set for a great season.
Only silver lining is that it will be warm enough in the next few days to cook off almost all of the S and Sish facing aspects.

another 3rd place at Frank. now reigning 3rd place on the big stage
facet stoke is still stoke, and shit like that is better than bitching about snowbird's owner's political leanings
but yeah tell that to mark white, he's been farming facets now for a few weeks and seems to be having the time of his life
in all sincerity - yeah - the bottomless facets are pretty shitty. not our first go around with a PWL in the wasatch though. i'm just worried about what it means with 5x the number of inexperienced backcountry skiers.
Fuck. 2019 had to be the best calendar year of skiing in my life. Here's to bringing it back in 2021!
The cirque was pretty fat 12/4/19.

a year ago this saturday was my first "real" day out - i had donated a kidney on november 13th, and while i was told that i shouldn't (under any circumstances) do anything strenuous, lift anything, or fall down on account of the 4" hole in my stomach, i also couldn't pass up the opportunity to ski a real powder day. all i did was pole line, but the snow was great and i got back to the car with just a little bit of blood spotting.
i texted this photo to my surgeon (also a backcountry skier) to troll her and she just laughed - didn't scold me at all. we skied together later in the year and had a blast.
^ Hell yea and good on you for helping giving someone else a second chance at a better life my dude!
IN THE WASATCH HOUR BABE WE WANT MORE MORE MORE.... (STOKE)! with a LCC YELL!

Incredible story.
Yes, big props for helping someone out. A coworker of mine donated a kidney to his brother a while back and it was no picnic afterwards, a real sacrifice.
And at the risk of sounding ghey, what kind of pants are those? I really like that color combo.
Obligatory NTTAWWT.
Well, I haven't been that stoked on ski season this fall, but this page changed that. Tgapp when social gatherings are acceptable again I owe you a beer!
they're shitty as fuck mammut pants. 0/10 would not recommend. for a $750 hardshell goretex pro pant, i could almost literally sneeze a hole in them. after 5 days on them they looked worse than my BD beater pants with 200+ days on them. that eddie bauer jacket though is pretty dope for storm skiing.
and honestly it pretty much was a picnic. 10/10 would do again if i could. basically two days of intense pain in the hospital, a week of manageable pain without the use of opiods (thank god for heating pads), and a few months of slight discomfort. i was skiing the summer road after like 8 days and then doing real skiing within 3 weeks (pic above). within 4-5 months of donation i was doing shit like skiing kings peak, long days in the backcountry (8k, so long for me anyway), climbing 5.10 on gear, etc. i'm still as much of a jong as i was before, but i can't realistically expect that the 300g i lost would make me any stronger.
i got my one year labs back last week and i'm totally back to normal - my kidney function is within the healthy range for people with two kidneys.
if there's interest i can post a donate your own fucking organs trip report
There's a good chance I'll need one sooner or later, so thanks for passing one along.
I don't have more stoke to add to our facets and COVID discussion for now, but I will likely be skiing with the kiddos again this weekend. I'll try to grab a pic then.

I thought alta was ripping today. That place is a blast in low tide and the man-made was velvety like the pants SFB and schindlerpiste used to wear to dead shows in the 80s. Really good skiing, I want to ski again. It will snow that is a certainty, hopefully, everything rips out and it just fucking dumps all of 2021! Only had time for a short rip today but man I wish I could have skied all day it was that good.
confirmed on both n and nw aspects, and skiing facets is still better than being at work on time but man, low tide.

I’d take that ptex gun off your hands...
I always enjoyed alta with decent snow at low tide. There are more dips and rolls, double fall lines, etc, that disappear when the snow is normal. Skiing is fun.

Snowbird was not that great today. Lots of ice. Nothing off trail you could really hit. All the guns were off too so there weren't even little man made powder stashes you could hit. Might head back over to Alta tomorrow. Really waiting for Solitude to open so I can plug another resort into the somewhat pathetic groomer circuit I got going on. Deer Valley might even open soon enough to make it 4 resorts on the groomer circuit before any more snow falls. Haven't even bothered to install my snow tires yet or get my new Moment Wildcats mounted or my new Black Crow Daemons mounted. It looks like my Head Super Shape iTitans I got just for the few days at Deer Valley this year are going to continue pulling the load for several more weeks :-(
