Have you noticed any problems with the Shimano HG+ 12spd chain and the SRAM chainring? Or is that a SRAM eagle chain?
I've been running a HG+ chain on a OneUp Switch v2 chainring (because dentist cranks) and haven't had any issues with it. The Wolf Tooth Camo system worked fine as well, I just switched to the OneUp because it has a cleaner look. Just a couple more options for running HG+ chains on SRAM 3-bolt style cranks.
Same bike, new rider ... now we know why Yoann didn’t give a shit talking about the Grim Donut being so much faster than the Commencal ...
As a GG fanboi I’m pretty pumped on this!

Guessing he's on a Gnarvana, that ticks a lot of the boxes about what he liked on the Donut.
Yeah, he's going to push that bike about as hard as anyone can.... great choice for GG. Yoann's a great dude and a perfect fit.
When I saw a few Rev’d frames from GG (it was only once and for a handful of minutes in a shop).
They looked really ‘chunky’ and not in a good way. Partially because the headset cup was in ‘short’ on both bikes so they just looked a little strange.
Am I alone in that? Do people warm up to them with time?
I owned ~16 of them last year, and I agree with you 100%... in the "short" position, they look horrible. Of all the people I know who own one, and of all the GG's I've seen in person, I don't any of them were setup that way.
In the "long" setup though, they look pretty normal (we had all of our demos set up in "long"). I think they're pretty nice looking bikes in person, TBH. I had a lot of clients immediately comment how beefy they looked, but I don't remember too many that didn't like how they looked.
Ride my S4 Gnarvana in short, and it looks just fine (though I was super worried about it prior). Just FWIW #personalopinion
Any thoughts on shred dawg build? Only things that look to be available are that and a local stumpy evo comp. Just sold the old FS, so I'm in the market.
About time you get a new bike!!!!
That Stump Evo is probably a better value at $900 less than the SD Renegade build and *arguably* better fork chassis (36 vs Ribbon) and drivetrain (SLX vs NX) ...
But I think the real question is for your local jank trails do you want the truckin big wheels or the super short chainstay with mid wheels?
I’m sure both absolutely rip ... SD was originally the next bike on my list ... but then I decided to replace my home HVAC this year ...
Ah home ownership... I'm on 27.5 for my singlespeed and it works fine here as what you gain with the wagon wheels in small chunk you lose in maneuverability in the trees - and I need all the help I can get. I enjoy more "fun" bikes as I don't have the time to do epics or big-big rides, and the kids aren't quite at the stage where they can ride more than smooth stuff.
Just curious for the SD what the build call would be - not unlimited budget, but room to play with an emphasis on performance and lack of maintenance need as my life is busy enough.
Hope all is well A - R shares the insta pics on occasion.
I'd swap on the Pike Ultimate for the MRP. I've seen a lot of bad reviews of the Ribbon. No real options on the drivetrain, but NX Eagle is a hot turd so maybe swap that with whatever you've got on your current bike, or just say "no drivetrain" in the build options. The Magura MT7s and BikeYoke are money, but I'd go for the 185mm unless you're a midget.
Confession time: I have never used a dropper post, so good to know.
Yeah, part of me really wanted to get AC a Revved GG, but the parts spec on the EVO Comp is just too damn good for the price. Plus, the "Gloss Clay" color the comp comes in is a perfect girl color, and the EVO frame is not insignificantly lighter. I'm hoping to upgrade to a Revved Megatrail frame when I hit the 4-0 next year.
Oh man, you're in for a treat. I'm 5'-8" with short legs, on a S2 Gnarvana with a 185 BikeYoke. Longer is always better for droppers as long as you can reach the pedals properly. If you go with GG, talk to them about your size/height to confirm, but given how short their seat tubes are, you almost certainly can run a 185.
The '21 SJ Evo is a sick bike too. I love the idea of the geo tweaking options, or ability to get mullet link for it. And I'm sure the frame is very light. Depends on whether those are good things for you.
Any thoughts on the Evil Calling? Looks like they're on sale at Competitive Cyclist with a nice XT build. I'm a solidly mediocre rider that is ok at everything. Store sold the Stumpy EVO and has no clue on when more stock will be in.
You mean GX build?
If I could get any in stock bike that fit me, with XT build, I’d jump all over it!
I’ve never ridden an Evil DELTA bike so I can’t comment on that.
