Here is an awesome beer I had last night. Wasn't expecting the chili peppers though. It was almost too spicy for me. Might be a good one to age for a few months.

I think I have a bottle-conditioned Baltic porter from my local (Blackfoot River) in the cellar. This chatter might inspire me to pull it out. It’s supposed to finally get wintery overnight.

Anyone else remember the Cave Creek chili beer? That was spicy!

It's kind of a weird place. Their beers are adventurous, but they really pull their punches on some of them. For instance their sours are good, but I can't help thinking "this could be sour-er." Yet the chilli beer is hot.

The food is way better than most brewery/bar food. For instance, things like salads aren't an afterthought, they're actually good.

It's a nice space, and just out of town enough that it doesn't feel like strip-mall hell. But the serving staff are definitely hired for their looks and (probably) encouraged to dress provocatively (no pics). It's like the whole place is juxtaposed with itself.

No I'm visiting my parents in Vancouver Island. Saw that beer at the local liquor store looking for porters/stouts and thought it looked good.

Had a craving for unibroue beers but apparently they aren't distributed to W Can anymore. I can still get them in SD but that was the one beer that was always cheaper at home than the US.

Can't get much else good from Canada down there. Used to see Howe sound brewing and Parallel 49 occasionally. Since stone sold out (they used to distribute for many local craft brewers) it's gotten hard to find true craft beers in a lot of places again. Grocery stores and gas stations are back to 98% crap owned by AB and others.

One of my all time favorites showed up on the shelf yesterday after being gone for at least 2 years and it's a Baltic PorterAttachment 481811
So I'm enjoying one now as the first flakes of the biggest storm in 2 years are starting to fall. This will lube my joints for the forthcoming shovel sessions.

I live 17 miles south of the Linden/Aldergrove border and you can't get either of those here! I was on the island last summer and stopped at a liquor store for some campfire beers. I literally didn't recognize anything. The whole BC brewery scene has changed so much since I was up there regularly (pre-pandemic).

I can't think of any B.C. beers that are available in Washington currently. Maybe five or more years ago I used to see Howe Sound in the big flip-top bottles, but not anymore (and I'm pretty sure they don't have those bottles in Canada now, either). That's why every time I visit Whistler I make a stop at the liquor store north of town and pick out something new. I have had a couple by Field House before. That food from their brewpub looks pretty tasty. I'll have to make a stop if I ever pass through "Abby." :)

Yeah 10 years ago those big bottles of Howe Sound were all over. I think they still sell them at the restaurant in Squamish. Something must have changed in the distribution, but I think it was likely before covid.

I like 33 acres in Vancouver, but I've only had their beer a handful of times. They have some good lighter options and some interesting experiments.

It's definitely been a while since I've seen either. And probably much longer for the Howe Sound. I just thought that was kind of a random beer to find down in SD. But the flip top bottles are great for home brewing so I always bought some whenever I found them.

There are a few breweries I recognize as staples like Granville Island, Phillips, Vancouver Isl Brewing, Driftwood etc that are ok but kinda ho-hum. A few better ones like Parallel 49, Backcountry, Superflux but beyond those I don't recognize much. Last summer when I was up here, went to a bunch of breweries with friends and sister that I'd never heard of before. Seems like there is a new hot brewery every year.

Brewed my version of Gonzo Tuesday.

Have had to dump/clean the blow off bucket 5 times.

Going with the French medium toast sticks soaked in a bourbon style adult beverage for the eventual barrel age phase.

I see my autocorrect made the town of Lynden into a berry! and I didn't even notice (says something about how seldom I go there). Yeah, there's a really good bottle shop/tap room here that used to bring BC beers in, but pretty much gave up due to lack of interest.

A friend lives about 5 mins from Dageraad, but he's not a beer guy.
