There was a handful of replacement skin strips sold in Gear Swap a few years back. When you can't kick, stomp. When you can't stomp, herring bone.
The Sport Tube is pretty nice, telescopes and has wheels and a handle for hauling around the airport. I have a Series 2 which fits 4 pairs of skis with poles (if you pack carefully). Nice thing about flying with nordic skis is you don't need to worry about the weight limit.Quote:

This is also the answer to not being able to get a workout doing classic (in addition to "go faster"). On steep hills you're basically running up the hill with skis on your feet. When I'm approaching and then moving up a hill, generally my progression in technique is to kick on the groomed until I can't then move over to the fresh snow then skate uphill until the speed is so low the skate becomes a herring bone. So many variables with hill, snow quality, camber/grip. Using all the tools in your tool box to seek efficiency is what I like about the game. And skating down hill :)Quote:

S bounds with high top leather and 3 pins are my every day anywhere driver. I carry skins. Seems to me those short fat skis with skins are dope for checking a trap line or tending a sugar grove. Sliding snow shoes.
I have the Voile Vector BC ski (the model with fish scales). It's an alpine ski, not a nordic ski. But if you want downhill performance and fat, Voile has several models with the fish scales. They are my Spring ski mountaineering ski and great for long, flat, slightly up, slightly down approaches. I still bring skins and ski crampons for when it gets steep and icy.

The Voile V6 BC skis with the traction base + tip & tail rocker are slarvy & very good in hippie pow conditions 😁⛷
The other Voile BC traction base models have flatter tails, are less slarvy & more carvy 🔪

I was back up at Green Woodlands today, saw the man himself, Bob Green, grooming with a snowmobile. Too thin for the cat tillers, snow coming though! If you don’t know the story on Bob Green, he’s awesome, I’ll just leave it at that!

petit train du nord, used to be a train to tremblant round trip that would stop at all the little hills for a quarter before they built the stupid highway.
now it’s your normal NE rail to trail with a lot of lakes, rivers, cottonheads, etc. goes forever and some of the sections are pretty nice, and it’s one of the only free spaces to get out in the laurentians. fucking crowded on the weekend.
