Well, sitting in the airport waiting on my red eye back to Tampa.
Just under 130,000 vert ft in 5 days. Pretty happy with my first trip, despite the conditions.
See you again in March.
Proud dad moment....my kindergartener's first high boy! Sure was nice to have soft snow again. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2cd9c8d2e8.jpg

Sounds like it got wild up there. 10+ inches of groupel with around 2.5 inches of SWE, dense AF. Snowbird closed all lifts around 2:45 following a big natural slide in the Defiance Ridge area and saying to expect delayed openings tomorrow.
Hell yea!!!

Response to DTM-
Thanks Mang. Pretty happy with my 51 year old legs. Didn't really do much to get ready since I have been hauling flood debris and working my ass off trying to put my house back to "normal".
I think there is a certain point where muscle memory takes over. Can't get sore if you don't give the legs any rest.
On another note, that you should appreciate, my buddy's 14 year old dropped the blind 12ish footer in the woods right behind Gad 2 coming from Little Cloud yesterday. Not sure if it has a name.
My other buddy's college age son dropped it last week on teles and it was eating the kid up that he had backed away from it. Little bit of new snow seemed to solve it.

Slide on Dutch draw at the canyons. In bounds slide at Snowbird. Things are heating up. Thoughts and vibes</p>
KSL is calling a fatal slide in Silver Fork BCC.
The one you that's right above the LC lift line?
Definitely the weirdest 18" day ever. Skied amazing when fresh but when it got skied out it was rugged. Last week's 4" skied better.
Still scored some fun lines.

Few Alta trollers were loading up in a sxs around 1, then both choppers beat feet to east bowl. Uac confirmed fatality. Rough year

Fatal slide involves a guide. Sounds like the guide died and the client is injured. Bummer
Oh man. I was talking avy danger with a guy on the chair today and I actually said that big groupel events have a habit of killing people :(
Inbounds observation is: The gullies and half pipes were obviously full of yesterday's funneled grapple. Skiers could not compact it, it was like skiing on fake movie set snow whatever that is like. South/Southwest sucked after some traffic, other aspects were more or less surprisingly good after being harvested to death.
East bowl, went big. Looks like the PWL again.

Today, we received 10” of graupel snow following days of strong winds, with gusts reaching 83 MPH. At approximately 2:10 pm, a natural avalanche occurred in the Defiance Ledge area. Snowbird Ski Patrol arrived within minutes and searched the area. Ski Patrol also deployed Snowbird’s Avalanche Rescue Dog team. The search yielded no sign of anyone caught in the slide and no individuals have been reported missing at this time.
Due to increasingly challenging conditions, at 2:45pm all lifts except Chickadee were closed.
Please anticipate a delayed opening tomorrow due to avalanche mitigation. We’re grateful to our teams for all their hard work and thank you in advance for your patience.
Whoa fkna that is amazing!!
On the topic of kids - I have an old friend with daughters ages 3 and 6 coming into town from Georgia, and he wants to take them skiing. Any idea where we could find some inexpensive snow clothes to use for the weekend?
