Thanks dr science but the rear tire blew because of a shearing force. The rear end of the combine probably bounced sideways and pulled the bead off the rim of the low pressure tire. You could drop that tire of a building and it would just bounce.

Bro. That combine weighs over 35,000#s as it sits. The rear of the machine lifted from the impact of the accident and the weight of the machine coming back to earth blew out the rear tire and flattened the rim. There could've been some side load upon hitting the ground that helped break the bead but there are no marks on the pavement where the rear tire was dragged across it. It was a single violent impact and not friction that damaged the rear rim. It's no different than a hard rim strike on a mountain bike.

And I agree you could drop that tire off a building and it'd just bounce. Now let's add 15,000 pounds on top of it and then we'll see how far it bounces...
