Good day to be in the bowl
"AVALANCHE PROBLEM: A surprising amount of recent new snow and ideal wind speeds for loading lee slopes have built Wind Slabs in Tuckerman Ravine. These wind slabs are likely to generate medium to large size avalanches, sensitive enough to be triggered by a skier, rider or climber and will have the ability to propagate a crack a long distance. They will be more than capable of burying a person and killing them by suffocation or trauma. This is true in Moderate as well as Considerable rated areas. Lower angle areas with bushes and rocks may be less prone to avalanche but could still be swept by debris from avalanches starting higher in the terrain. Once you pass the first aid cache on the way into the Ravine, 15 minutes up from Hermit Lake, you are in avalanche terrain."
Stealing these from the Jay FB page, taken today.

Jay did not disappoint yesterday, great to make turns with madpatski and rudeness and assorted nonmag friendses, and finally catch a day with danmelon. Here's a couple photos of the skanky Jet action.
Most definitely a sweet day at Jay made all that much sweeter by hooking up with the crew. Nice to finally link up with you all.
Creamy April turns under Bonnie.

Dang. They still had 59/78 runs open today? Awesome!
Agreed, today was great! Tuckerman chute x 2, $49>$73
Pffffttt, you guys and your April pow - don't you know it's "fast grass to connect the patches" season. Soooo much better than lift served pow http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...909499a8a2.jpg
I like to play connect the patches too. Looks like that starts this week for me. Ski you in May...
Sunday, whenever the clouds lifted, three generations were across the street and looking into the Ravines and GOS. Loooked like on and off snow all day Sunday.
From the base lodge winow, looking out at the trees and trails of Wildcat, the 2 1/2 y/o said "mountain". Purely identification.
Outside, stopped and on slope she looked across to Mt Washington, pointed and exclaimed "Mountain!"
Kids get it.
GOS snowfields picked up a large cornice during the day. Dutchess filled in again and Raymond Cataract almost became continuous from Alpine Garden to the Cataract ice. Central, in Huntington lost its dark spots and TUX picked up a lot of snow. If that slides its gonna be on the big side.
And perhaps the easties got a refill as well. Looking like a good weather window for some touring on the rockpile coming this week. Perhaps even several days in a row. I'm likely heading over there Thursday-Sunday. Anyone else?

Saturday was a blast with familiar faces at Jay. Thanks for the pic Mtl, probably my best tele day this season!
jesus christ that looks awesome.^
Gulf of slides yesterday went spring to winter, to mid winter to spring again. Up top, it looked like a warm January day. Wind blown filled the boot pack betwen laps. Just some hopscotch on the way down to try and ski it out. Was mighty satisfied with my Sunday.
Cannon looks wall to wall. If the wx holds, i'm headed up Saturday.
Kid Stoke!
The 2 1/2 yo has a second day of skiing. The tow didn't work because she would just lean in the direction of the tow...

Being held under the arms seemed a little better, but Daddy's back and then Grandfather's back started screaming. Then Grandpa had the idea of moving her along by means of a tuschi push. The child stayed up straight and learned to slide while standing up in about 30 seconds...possibly quicker but she got distracted by her first sight of Mt Washington. Total saucer eyes!

Hope the forecast holds. I am thinking Thursday as well but not sure yet. Plan to hit pass holder opening day at Highland and get some high George the next day, then a Cannon hike and more bike park laps Friday, what a spring.:D
Love the 2 YO pic RR, with the binky and the goggles it looks like she could be a GSA in training,
Gotta keep this above the spam. Found the roll call on page 3!
Anyone headed up I-93 today past Franconia? eyes on Cannon?
bump for first page.
