Skied my R105s for the first time yesterday, super fun ski even on tired legs from nordorking the day before. Can confirm there's "no chill mode" but man do they rip. Bit of a handful for me in funky grabby chop, but rail on anything chalky. Stoked to get them in some softer fresher snow, I think they'll be money.
I ran into a financial situation. If anyone has FOMO on 193 R105s, I’d be willing to sell.

This weekend I had it in Rain Corn and 5” of cold pow over ice bumps and last weekend was on icy snow from a week of sun and no snow.
I’ve been looking for something a bit looser than my M102 but was never happy with how much every other ski gave up on hard pack. I’m shocked at how well it does on hard pack for a rockered ski. Then in funky snow, it’s next level. It would be such a great option for anyone who likes the M102, Cochise, Corvus, etc.
Honestly, I don’t know how you’ve hit so many home runs. Every HL ski I’ve tried (5 now) has been exceptional.

Once you get off the hard pack the R105 really shines. The best way I can describe it is it feels catch free. It just slices through everything. Turn wherever you want regardless what kind of chop or crud is around. It encourages you to go fast and charge, but is relatively easy at slower speeds.
M102 (and FL105) feels more comfortable than R105 over 45mph on hard pack. R105 feels more comfortable than M102 on everything soft. Especially charging through variable snow.

I guess I will have to ski my r99s tomorrow since I have those slotted in the " I can see " position in my quiver and the sun doesn't shine here much. It seems like I could ski either the r105 or r99 any day any where and be covered .
Mounted at recommended line (-11) with strive 16. Skiing in Dabello Krypton with zip fits. I’m about 6"1’, 240, 330 bsl. I’m very happy with how they feel and wouldn’t change where I mounded them. FWIW, my M102 is mounted on the line and I like it there as well.Quote:

I think the important thing to keep in mind, is that a reverse ski is already bent into shape, so once you roll it on edge, it carves clean right away, you don't have to bend it further. So from that perspective, stiffer is better, as otherwise the ski gets less intuitive and can over-flex. And since its reverse, its super quick to pivot too, less demanding to unweight and force sideways. Hope that helps think it thought a bit!Quote:

Have a couple days on my outlet pair of FL105s so far. Skied everything from scratchy man made, hard and soft crud, and thigh deep low density. Just point em and go, these are an amazing JH daily driver ski. Not a believer in a 1 ski quiver, these would notch right in the middle of a 3 ski quiver perfectly though.
They're a lot more nimble than I thought they'd be, which may be more a function of them being a shorter length than I'm used to. Really fun billy goating through soft bumps while still having enough backbone to charge and blast through chop. Float is about average for a 105 waisted ski, but I liked em just fine in the fairly deep stuff. I bet the extra area of the 192 would help in this department (my 194 Praxis FRD is a good example of that).
I'm guessing these have the stock 1.5 base/2 side tune, which for me took at least a day to adjust to as I've never skied anything with a base bevel over 1 degree. Still trying to figure out if I like that, though leaning towards yes for this ski as the lack of "bad" hookups in crud was really nice. When I finally found the edges on day two they railed as well as I thought they would.

When I first got my pair of FL105s, I thought I'd ski them once or twice then change the base to 1.0. I've since grown to appreciate the little bit of extra freedom and margin-for-error that the 1.5 provides. I swear it's the most confidence-inspiring ski I've ever been on.Quote:

Did half and half day on FL105s / R110s.
Quite pleased.
I found it funny that while skiing the FL105s in a cool, controlled manner ... I was still passing everyone on the mountain.
And Lord have mercy when you open up a can of whoop ass.
Nice! Yeah, the one nine tews are a different animal than the one hate fives. The longers go to eleven. The shorts are a freakin riot tho and still truck!!

Would love to hear the back to back on these. I got on my 185s for a couple laps at the end of the day today after skiing my supergoats more of the afternoon and the contrast was interesting, they don’t do the same things well other than go fast.
