On my way...
It’s been a crazy winter around Marquette...mad drama around the little local hill, late start...long wrod season with a lot of rain turned overnight into a new manager and nonstop storm after storm for like 5 weeks. Life was a whirlwind of plowing, crazy commercial driving in storms, snowblowing, skiing pow, getting unstuck...war mode. It was an amazing cycle.

So I wiggled and swore and took my ibuprofen and gave’r.
That day was skiing off the last operable of the 3 chairs, and after that run the final running chair failed, so I went to start my bbi mode at the ski hall of fame.

because I learnt that Mt Bohemia TV’s one and only Joey Wallis was going to be in his hometown of Galena IL when I was coming through...so the plan was made to ski Chestnutz. After some genuinely challenging storm driving, I arrived to a glistening post-rain chestnut. The sun was shining, the view was un fucking real, zipper lines were zippered, I never did ask any employees if they had any nuts on their chest...wall...chin...etc. Best Behavior and whatnot.

Feeling sporty and invigorated, I overcommitted to a long evening stretching that first day out to omaha....and even worse, the omaha room I booked turned out to be a fleabag with ppl just idling in beat up cars in the parking lot all night, and a skeletal scabby front desk lady. I spent most of the night staring out at my truck. I felt like Llewelyn in that hotel in No Country For Old Men. A woman was screaming somewhere. The police came. I slept about three hours in the daylight this morning before hitting it. I slayed the morning crew in the lobby, Omaha black ladies, by convening an informal jury to decide the Judge Joe Brown case playing on the lobby tv.
Ski tracks carpet...favorite part of the whole thing.

At this point in the drive I’m just happy I didn’t accidentally drive back to Iowa and have to trade my pickup for a minibike like Lloyd Christmas.
This part of the country reminds me why people buy the big v8...poor lil 2.7 toyota ran at 3700 rpms uphill into a stiff wind getting 17mpg all day today. Blowing the carbon out I guess.
