I know it’s in here somewhere. Seems to vary with fritchi. Thinking about getting a pair. What brake should I get for a 115 waisted ski? 110? Some reports of an extra 5-8mm space available

120's are pretty wide, I haven't done it yet but think I can even fit the 110 width on Lotus 120's with heavier grinding on the inside of the plastic tips. Tecton/Vipec brakes spring really wide when fully extended, you just have to do a little fitting to get them to clear the topsheets mid-extension.
I'd save the 120's for fatter skis.
^ I have 116mm skis and tectons with 120 brakes being delivered today. I'll take a look and see if the overhang will truly be that big of a deal or not. Seems goofy.
Grinch where do you order brakes? I've got a spare set of Tectons without brakes and am too much of a gaper to ski brakeless
I was going back and forth between “snowinn ” and “mec”. Snowinn has a “post shipping” option so leaning that way($150cheaper than mec and with post can possibly skip duty). Mec has 120 brake and snowinn has 110 available. I think I want brakes with these, not sure though . Do I? All my d fits are without brakes
Grinch - sorry for confusion. I would probably keep my spare Tectons. ffmedic and jackattack i could use either 110 or 100mm brakes. I have no idea how much brakes cost so am open to hearing
FYI if anyone wants some 120 brakes I have some.
Okay... the 120 brakes on some 115mm skis are goofy big. Looks like I need to get some 110 brakes for sure. Not that I didn’t believe you guys I had just already ordered them.

I'd install them and observe how they retract and deploy to confirm whether they're too big or not.
1000-oak's observations would point toward them being too big, but after all of the mislabeled brakes on the Vipecs, I've become a trust but verify sort of guy ;-)
... Thom
Someone buy fritchi a tape measure. That does look yuuuge. Maybe they measure at that first bend . That looks about 5 extra mm’s. Maybe you can tweak them a bit bit or like Thom says, they might be fine the way they are with the roll out. Almost looks like 2-3 mm per side in at the ends and it’d be good
You can't judge how wide the brakes are/function by just holding them onto the ski like that. They need to be mounted to the binding and the ski to get a good idea of how they work when they deploy.
I had the 110 brakes on a 110 ski and in all actuality I think they'd barely clearly a 114 ski
Gotta mount them to check, the arms get pinched in quite a bit, especially at half-deployment.
Well shit this is confusing. Can someone with mounted skis in the 112 - 117 range chime in specifically?
Read my post from 9:56 last night.
Can confirm, I've got 110's on ZeroG 108's and they are just right. But I thought the exact same thing before I mounted them up.
