Another vote for the large. Like Cruiser, if I am feeding that many people I'll fill it with pork butts. Back when I got mine part of the consideration was the availability of eggcessories. Probably not as much of an issue these days as the XL eggs seem to be selling. Lots of creative ways to cram a lot of food on a large. In addition to the plate setter get a good thick pizza stone, I've got the BGE version but any good quality stone will work.

I like the large. I wish it had a little more room, but I am probably going to get a pitmaster vault for larger cooks.

You keep talking about that vault. When you gonna throw down and place your order? That damned thing looks HAWT!

Anyone familiar or have any experience with the Primo Kaboda grill? Looking at an XL. Can get locally and they are having a sale starting the 18th that will include a nice cart, charcoal divider, drip tray and pizza stone for $1800.

After looking at BGE's, Primo's, webbers, and a komado joe I've decided I'm leaning towards a Primo oval xl. I like the 2 zone option, direct/indirect and huge grill surface.

Do you run a restaurant?

Some of us cook that way for our families. It's all about the leftovers. And if you cook for another family or two, you need to be sure to have enough. So you've got to have extra - which brings us back to leftovers.

I'm currently cooking enough ravioli and sauce to feed six for my son and I. Leftovers.

Yeah, we've got a pretty big family. Add to that the fact that I'm a homebody and would prefer to have people over instead of going out. So we end up going through a pretty good bit of chow when we get rolling. And Mike's right, leftovers are key. Nothing like making coworkers jealous when you warm up lunch during the week.

A local furnature / appliance store is a kamado Joe dealer. They have the classic Joe on for $900. The nice thing is that it comes with a lot of the accessories that you pay extra for with an egg. I have another week before I get into my house, and then I'm pulling the trigger.

Leftovers. Means you don't have to buy cheap shitty fast food or expensive good food for lunch. Good planning and a freezer help too. I cook extra so I can vacuum seal leftovers and freeze them so they can be used later. I can reheat a pouch of sliced pig loin in hot water and have dinner ready in minutes. Having something big to cook on allows you to plan meals ahead of time that you can reheat quick. Less likely to eat out and spend more money on shitty food.

^^ its crazy how many people don't get this. Leftovers are the way forward.

I don't. Actually I do. It works. But the temp in the skillet is different. I had the front burner on and the food in the back. Thermometer is up front. Back burner is the hot zone, front is cooler. Front on low with skillets in back gives me a good oven temp for low and slow. If you keep it shut it works. I've been cooking with this thing for six years. I've got it figured out.

That's funny. Just last night we were just talking about how long it takes to really get to know a new grill. My buddy had recently acquired a new gas grill and he was saying what a learning curve there was for him to get used to where the hot and cool spots were at on it. From my perspective, it looked like he had it pretty dialed though because my little lamb t-bones were freaking perfectly medium rare!

Had a customer today looking for a Weber thermometer to install in his grill hood. He was having trouble figuring out his cook temps. Sold him a $10 oven thermometer he can put inside rather than the $30 dubious one I showed earlier. You can move it around and figure out your different temperature areas.
