If I gave a fuck that would've stung, but seeing as I don't, I'll sit back and watch you continue to murder your ability to sell 2nd rate helmet cams.

Yeah, I know... maybe I should get into the t-shirt business.
I shot a little test footage with it. I ran into as many bad lighting places as i could and the sun was going down. Wanted to see how it handled that. The sound is pretty bad but that might be due to me cranking the level up and having the mic covered. Next time I'll try it with the sun overhead and see how it works out in good light. Also had it mounted on the handlebars so it's way shakier than it would be on the helm (wasn't wearing one..)
I want to get a helmet cam aswell, and did a bunch of research. I came down to two finalists, The viosport 1 thingie and the dogcam with the 500r recorder.
they are roughly the same price, the dogram recorder is a harddrive so it has 30 or 60 gb space, but methinks a harddrive sucks more power, and is more prone to damage. but I can use that to watch Tentacle porn on the way to univ every day on the bus aswell.

Have any of you guys tried both hard drive and sdcard recording?
That viosport recorder looks like you can cover it in shit and toss it off a mountain without even making it smell bad.
But I like the dogcamera aswell, and the videos on their page are good quality. Guess it will all boil down to which company will write Gift less than 100 dollars on the freight note so customs won't make me get into male prostitution.....
For the people who doesnt know what google is, here's the url to dogcamsport, http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk
wicked, thanks for that link. I had come across dogcam a year ago, but they slipped my mind when i was doing my research this time around. They seem to be solid lip stick cams and the their own dvr recorder seems to be better that the one included in the viosport pov 1. The dogcam setup seems less user friendly, but it still small, lanc compatible and high quality.
Anyone have a chance to use the new dogcam setup. I worry that the viosport pov.1 is not intended for super high speeds (skiing), while dogcam's new lipstick cam is high speed specific and the dvr has beter resolution? Also, CMOS sensor in the viosport vs. CCD in the dogcam. Any thoughts? I am about to pull the trigger, but after having a crap set up last year, I want to be more informed.
This thing has gota rock for porn!
Wicked, I just want to tell you about your comparison. It is still apples to oranges.
The Vio camera is 720 lines, Dogcam 540. The recorder will record up to 720. Their is a difference.
The vio recorder has no moving parts, dogcam high speed spinning hard drive.Their is a 800r version of the recorder that has a flash drive for recording and a hard drive for storage, and is an even better design but still fails to compair.
The vio has built in mic, Dogcam has seperate mic.
The vio has one solid connector cable and a wireless remote. Dogcam has 3 including remote.
The vio uses AA easily sourced and replaced or use rechargable. Dogcam use some cheap camera battery, Very specific and not as easily replaced.
Overall the Dogcam is a great leap forward from the handicam and battery pack and rats nest, but is still not in the same league as the Vio.
Just to let you know the Dogcam has been available for almost 2 years now, it is not a "New" thing.
Just wanted to make sure that you knew you are not compairing apple to apples.
That is Hotel Terra #1. It will be a hotel and privately owned condos. Then they are starting on Terra #2. That is slated to be built across the pond from us and up on that hill next to Pepi's where they usually put that big hangar style function tent.
The village is a mess right now and It is only going to get worse...
Greets-
If anyone is interested, our full review went live a few weeks ago over at Helmet Camera Central. Raw video clips, frame grabs, usability, tons of insight and details. Overall the POV1 is a winner, but there are some usability issues and videophiles will have a few things to say.
I'm very stoked on this unit. Many helmet cam vendors are jealous (and worried), and for good reasons. Someone finally got it right.
Someone quoted $900 earlier... you can get these for less than $825 and with free shipping too. Even then, the price seems steep, but it's a fully integrated, dvd resolution system, that is fully waterproof out of the box (the whole thing, not just the cam). It comes with a 1 GB sd card, batteries, carrying case, and a camera mount. It has one battery system, one cable, wireless remote, tapeless, rugged. I'm telling ya, the hidden costs of typical helmet cam systems.... A complete analog system with all the bells & whistles that are included with the POV1 - will set you back at least $700 - and you'll end up with a cheap PVR (or camcorder), multiple batteries, wires galore, connectors that were not designed to be stuffed in backpacks, duct taped connections, and the list goes on.
Seriously, check out the review: http://helmetcameracentral.com/2007/...-video-system/

Made good use of the POV1 this weekend at Laguna Seca. It worked extremely well!

Where do I buy an external mic for the POV1 and does it have a wireless capability or does it have to be fixed into the bottom of the unit?
I am running the POV1 as an in car video setup with it mounted on the dashboard area facing the roadway. The problem is the reflection from the dashboard is showing up in the footage.
Is there anyone out there running some sort of swivel mount or a different type of mount from the top portion of the windscreen facing the roadway so as not to get any reflection in the footage from the dashboard?
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
Not being biased with the content, but
I would have to say the POV-1 unit really
captured the recent runs posed at Alta.
Even with the shitty transposition from youtube.
