no. basically race bindings with different din.
mine go from 10-19.
and i think the din can vary under the same name. (i believe i saw some going to 20 or 18)

The $59 deal? I'll have to check mine, but I think they say FF17 all over.
Checked. The FF17s I have are marked "d10" on the sides of the heelpieces.
I was told that the brakes that fit Salomon S9xx and Zxx will not work as direct replacements for at least the new Solomon high DIN bindings (maybe other new ones). As Alpinedad mentioned... you MAY be able to swap the arms out but if you're buying fat brakes this is something to keep in mind.
Photos to help the brake-bending JONGs:
From left to right: Look Pivot/ Rossi Axial brakes -- (L) unbent 80mm standard narrow brake, (center) unbent 98mm-ish wide brake, (R) bent way out 80mm narrow brakes, now approx. 150mm brakes.
Tyrolia FF17/ D10 brakes:
(L) unbent 80mm-ish narrow brakes
(R) bent 80mm brakes, now approx. 140mm width
Could anyone confirm the 110 number for the Duke? I could order a pair tomorrow (and from what I understand, ONLY tomorrow), but my decision is sorta based on whether I'd have to buy wide brakes or not. I've never seen a Marker brake bent, so I'm not sure how that would fare going from 80 mm to 120 mm (Lotus 120). But if it really is 110, then that's no issue.
I'll be damned. Mine say "d10" on toes and heels. Then again, the label says "Freeflex Plus" and then "10." Makes sense that they'd have thought these were only DIN-10 bindings.
Other than the Freeflex bases, though, these look like the same clamps as the Mojo 15s, so I assume they're just the FF17s with a different paint job.
I am trying to disassemble the older style Fritschi wide brakes to get the brake arms off the assembly.
These are older style - ie from gray yellows- I am trying to get the wide arms out to put them on a Salomon binder.
It seems to be almost impossible to get the brake arms out short of breaking the Fritschi brake assembly. I know because I've already broken one trying to force the brake arms out.
Hints? Pointers
Nevermind - I figured it out.
The fritschi brake assembly looks like the Salomon brake arms pictured here http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...04&postcount=8
The difference is that the brake assembly of the Fritschi is tighter so it isn't quite as easy to wiggle it out. you have to pry pretty hard to get the brake arm out. Apparently I pried too hard the first time and that's why I broke a portion of the brake assembly.
Thanks AD, great work here.
De nada.
salomon 85mm brakes for praxis?
too far to bend?
Bump for a great thread!
duke brakes are 110 or 132 if you would like to add that.
theyre interchangable with jesters, the standard jester brake is smaller.
btw i have 110mm duke brakes if anyone needs them for some reason.
How to bend 110mm duke brakes to fit praxis here:

Thanks, SiSt -- editing now.
One thing on Markers and wide breaks. I didn't want to start a thread on this alone, but if people don't already know (1) the high din bindings ie Comp 18 or 20 take a different brake then the low din Markers even though they look virtually identical at first glance, and (2) the brake arms can be removed individually from either of the two type of brake mechanisms with a little elbow grease and pulling in the right directions. You can then pull the narrow brake arms from the brake mechanism that fit the high din markers using the same amount of elbow grease and replace them with the wide metal break arms from the lower din binders. Wide breaks for low din markers are much easier to find (and cheap) so they can just be used to steal the brake arms from and discarded.
Bump for updated info. Feel free to tell me whatever's wrong or missing.
or,as someone said above,do brakes matter much in powder?
are we just doing this for cosmetic reasons to get on the lift?
If you're skiing lift-served, there will be times you have to ski something less than untracked, right? And sometimes, you might lose a ski? (Or I might, anyway.)
I found a ski with a broken brake last weekend, about 500 vertical feet of where it was lost. Luckily, there weren't any people between those points.
Anyway, they might not matter that much in deep soft snow, but wouldn't you rather have the ski stop a little closer?
That's why I stock up on wide brakes in summer half-price sales.
FWIW, while I had no problem bending the brakes on the Tyrolias, I couldn't find any shops who had a wide jig for these bindings. Best I could find was going to be a freehand job, which was going to run $50+. So I sold the Tyrolias and am sticking with Salomon and Look/Rossi for the time being. Might want to check on this before you go through the trouble of bending the brakes...
The current Tyrolias certainly seem to be well-built bindings. Lots of metal. Not much cheesy plastic.
Still not stickied? :(
Marker Duke/Baron/Jester/etc.
put brake arm in vice grips.
put vice grips in bench vice.
slip tubing over brake.
bend.
this worked perfectly for Hellbents. (just need a slight "tweak" outwards)

Note: do not use cheap vice grips, you'll break them.
Thanks and bump--great info in this thread
Bump for the impending season -- any updated brake info to add?
Before you spend $40 at Al's try Look/Rossi direct. They were mid $20s last spring.
