Hmmm...I started skiing in 1974, and went to the Stowe Ski Academy (briefly, till I discovered snowboarding in VT.) I could rip a bump or two on Olin Mark 4's at one time, and have skied a few times every year since then, except for two...NOW can I have an opinion?:rolleyes2
why not? lib tech are doing it too, although trying to regain some "street cred" by calling them "narrow ass snowboards"
This is bullshit. Burton has a whole list of product from boards to helmets and goggles that are off limits to shops that sell skis. It is called the Coalition Program, it protects small "core" board shops from having to compete with chain stores and conglamerate capitol mongrels like my ex-employer.
Case in point Burton's Biggest West Coast dealer is also a ski dealer so they CANNOT have access to the Coalition list product even though they make Burton more money than the coalition shops in California combined.
If Burton made skis what the hell would that mean for Coalition? Could a shop selling Burtons skis really be prevented from having Coaltion stuff as a result?
How can a brand have that snoody of a marketing ploy and renig so hard on their commitment to Snowboarding? Not to mention Jake Burton in interview has vehemently denied that he will ever produce skis.
Now is it just me or did that German guy on page one say Amplid skis were Burtons pet project out of the Spanish Factory? That is news to me, and more believable and discussion worthy news at that.
ps snowboarders suck! had to do it.
His Name isn't Jake Burton.
And I agree, he is NOT making skis. The ski industry were shuch shitheads towards what he, Burt, and Tom were doing in the early years, I just don't see it as possible. Ya' never know, tho!
PS: Skiers swallow!!!
I love to ski so much I never gave up my stiff plastic boots.Even when I discovered sliding sideways, I still couldn't shake that ski thing in my head. They called me a freak, those flimsy sorel booters.I was more a skiier on one giant ski.Always goin' fast, big GS turns, arcing that big ole ski , carvin' shit up.
somehow, shralpin' over picnic tables and school busses never really appealled to me.sliding down a staircase railing seemed kinda silly. go fast go faster.
It's really just a big ski, bend it. I'm over it, 2 planks are better than 1-
snowboarding has become ....lame
http://tetongravity.com/forums/showt...t=burton+rumor
Its been an industry rumor for a little while now and this seems to semi-confirm it. I heard they'll be under the Burton name, but setting up another side company with a different name seems to fit their business image a bit more.
icemang,
maybe rideit was "just saying" it.
What I do this time?
I don't care one way or the other if Burton makes skis.
Whatever floats your boat has been my stance all along, y'all are just adapting it like repubs figuring out the fallacy of this administration.;) ;)
I am not defending SHIT in this thread, just pointing out innacuracies.
Besides, I HAVE skis, and pretty much ride exlusively with skiers.
I certainly don't want to argue about it any more than you want me to.
We all love snow, and sliding around on it.
Truce?
Snowboarding is finally lame.. unless in supro deep powder.
coulda said it years ago.
