I've heard some nonsense that episodes 1, 2, 5, and 7 have leaked or something.
I know 1-7 were released to critics.
I've only watched 1 on On Demand since I heard the quality on the remainder was terrible (plus there's no way in hell I'm watching them out of order).
Episode 1 seems to be around on torrent sites (if you can't find it PM me).
Charter sucks ass. I setup an appointment to have them come and fix my cable box so I can get my On Demand working, and they don't even have HBO On Demand. And on top of that, I'm going to be gone for the season opener this weekend. Again, behold the power of TiVo!
Good stuff last night I'm stoked on this season.

No spoilers here, but good people will get hurt, and Omar's back on the scene. I hope and pray some heroes get to emerge from this season (I'm thinkin' Omar), but this show is not generally one to reward hope, that is for certain.
Is anyone else addicted to reading ABOUT this show? I've read New Yorker articles, Atlantic articles, NYT articles, EW articles, Salon.com articles... I really can't get enough. Shit, I've even gone meta and read a few articles the authors of aforementioned pieces cite as sources. I fear once the show is done I will go into heavy withdrawl.

I am, for sure. I think my favorite thing to read about is how other celebrities/cultural figures watch and enjoy the show. I was poopin' the other day and reading Blender, and even though it was an HBO advertisement for "The Wire," they interviewed Snoop Dogg about what he likes about "The Wire." I think it's interesting to see all the people who dig the show...just wish other people could of gotten into it.Quote:

There's just no "filler" dialogue, everything has meaning so if you miss one sentence you're suddenly wondering WTF is going on. This is why I crank the 5.1 way up and have a strict "no talking" rule while it's on. The effect is amplified by the fact that they wanted to do 13 episodes this season but HBO wouldn't go for more than 10, so plot development is noticeably accelerated.Quote:

i like scott the reporter, such a candy ass. all he ever does is complain that he gets no good stories, yet he doesn't try very hard and makes up all his quotes from interviewees. then he makes up this big story, actually interviews a marine, and gets his break. man it must be is hard to make this stuff up!

This is by far the best television ever. Networks should be taking notes from Time Warner.
Truth is what counts. For good Comedy, Drama, Action, news reporting, sports, fiction or non-fiction, truth is needed. People need to relate to the story and characters.
The Wire does not insult the audiences' intelligence by dumbing down, like every other show/movie out there.
Is it true that this is going to be the final season?

and that kids first appearance was actually in season 3 or 4, he was arguing that HE wanted to be Omar, when playing with a bunch of kids....

think mcnulty's going down? i'm thinking that they will make a big bust, maybe chris and snoop for the row house bodies and mcnulty will take the opportunity to come clean to Daniels. It would be funny to see mcnulty hand daniels a mess one last time before the show is over, like he has so many times already. Daniels will bury it because everybody is happy, mayor has his issue to run on(despite not finding the homeless killer) and his crime stats with the bust, and police finally get their overtime. but daniels will also be through with mcnulty's surprises and will force him out quietly.

Interesting to see if McNulty goes down. Maybe he and Freeman will take a hit for creating the serial killer scheme. Folks in the dept are starting to figure out what’s going on. Did you see that one cop twist McNulty’s arm to get a few cops for (surveillance I think) while he went golfing for the weekend?
Either way, I don’t think Daniels could bury this if it blew up. Politically, the mayor would probably have both of their assess for pulling that scheme. I saw the previews for next week and there are two episodes left, so I suspect there will be a lot of action in the final two episodes.
Wonder of chris or snoop will get one next week.
