If we get any precip before June monsoons, we will be lucky.Quote:

whatcomridaz - yep, got gear. Thurs/Fri/Sat would be awesome. I do have a buddy who will be meeting us from Portland, and he is w/o bc gear - is there a place up there to rent a beacon, etc, enough for sidecountry treks? I dont know the area, maybe it is too sketchy for that level of inexperience - although I am not much further along. PM me w/ a cell #, etc.
My freshly mounted Goats w/ Hammerheads are looking at me as I type...

The Glacier Ski Shop in, of all places, Glacier rents back country gear. Open at 8am. Great coffee and pastries on their deck too from Rebecca and Cort. It's on the left side of the road as you get into town. Glacier is about 18 miles from Baker.
Probably not a good idea to go OB without someone who knows. That won't be me but I can point you in the right direction inbounds. I hope to be up Sat and Sun.
The link Buster posted is the best place to check conditions, www.nwac.us.
Where are you all staying?
Yep, I will definitely not want to be wandering around w/o somebody who knows the area - Part of my reason for posting.
I will be staying at http://www.mtbakerbedandbreakfast.com/ - Seems like it is right in Glacier. Good heads up on the Glacier Ski Shop
Too bad about that high pressure, looks like maybe (hopefully?) some movement on the weather by late next week.
I'll keep this thread alive as I get closer to my departure date - Thanks for all the good info!
Tony
So your saying Mount Cain would be a better option than the GONG show of WB?Quote:

Wanna cruise up and do Stoneman on Saturday? Maybe take a peek at Widowmaker and see how it's shaping up on the way back?Quote:

Hey, BB -- you can't get to Stoneman by sliding sideways a few hundred feet from a chairlift. It is a different kind of BC skiing!Quote:

Bump this thread for the incoming Zonies... We will be there Thursday AM, hope to hook up with some nickle-changers. Not that anybody remembers this crap, but we will be two telers - Goats/Hammerheads, Jaks/Hammerheads, packs, slack-jawed-yokel steeze, and "will you be my guide?" neediness. See you there!
