People want it to be about MAGA so bad just like the other side hoping the darker skinned guy killing someone is named Muhammad but ends up going by Frank,
We’ll see. If that’s the parents then it is what it is.
Apples can fall near, or far from the tree. It is what it is when we actually know, until then it’s just guessing.
Yeah, then your post above about MAGA and POC etc. is just guessing.
I think there are two truths here:
1) the shooter was fucked up in the head. there is no sane, logical reason to do what he did.
2) if you treat trump and the whitehouse as a religous pilgrimage, as those two people in the picture are doing, it is highly unlikely you are a quality human.
I would bet quite a lot that this kid did what he did because he was denied a firefighting job/training/school.
From the view up here, you are all insane.
What I'm reading is that the guy was living in his car and was pissed because firefighters had asked him to move the car. No history to suggest anything political.
Engineer Dave Tysdal, 47, the surviving victim is still in critical condition but able to open his eyes and the two surgeries have gone well. Brief backgrounds here shows the Coeur d’Alene community lost two good key leaders to a loser lone gunman:

Bandini mountain, do you believe everything you see on tic toc? What a fucking dumbfuck
So do you still believe they are eating cats and dogs? When did you stop?
huh? Northern ID is amazing, actually you are right its really bad stay away.
It’s really sad that the main discussion following an event like this is “who’s team was he on?” Why are we keeping score?
Late stage two party political bullshit.

You make a valid point, and
this country survived earlier eras of ethnic bigotry -
USofA so badly needs a leader -
IF it is the 'end stage' of the two party political system, I will not be sorry to see it go, but I believe there are other factors (too) ;
the politics of fear and the politics of hatred have been strong for a long time -
I do not see it in the young people in my life, though I know there are sectors of society where racism is strong in any demographic (group) -
I wish the younger generations well !
I don't believe the boomers are doing them any favors.
peace my friends- skiJ
regarding the incident over the weekend,
I am not sure how different the incident in Idaho is from the incident in texas in '22, from the incident in minneapolis in '20, from the incident in south carolina a decade ago, from massachuetts twenty years, ago from the incident in colorado almost thirty years ago - or las vegas, or new orleans...
as long as it did not occur "in My 'back yard' " it is someone else's problem...
good luck --

At one time, probably a happy kid with a future full of promises.
Question for you wildland firefighters:I know a few surveyors who carry a pistol when out in the boonies, do any wildland firefighters carry to protect against meth heads, bundys, or bears?
(( a pistol is not 'protect'-ion against a sniper with a rifle ))
cuz team deify-gunz helped set the table for the increased use of firearms in daily life
there are ways to reduce gun violence and a voting faction refuses to allow any progress on the issue, instead putting their foot on the gas pedal to more access to firearms and the utterly expected subsequent increase in mayhem
case in point: the budget bill includes a measure to remove taxes on silencers and includes reductions to funding the ATF
Best I can tell is that is mom and step-father--snopes confirms it matches the mom's tattoos.
Actual father... well...
https://www.cnn.com/2025/06/30/us/idaho-fire-shooter-wess-roleyQuote:
Court documents show that Roley had a tumultuous family life growing up. His mother filed for divorce in September 2015, when her son was 10 years old, and wrote in court documents that her husband had threatened her, pushed her to the ground, and “punched several holes in the walls.”
“He threatened to sit outside my house with a sniper rifle or burn my house down,” she wrote.
A judge granted a protective order preventing Roley’s father from having contact with his wife or son, but later amended the order to remove the son after his father wrote in a court filing that “I am not a danger to my son or anyone else” and that his wife “did not tell the truth in her statement.”
When I worked there, a number of firefighters in AK carried a pistol for bears. I never noticed any regular firefighters in the lower 48 carrying. Doesn’t mean no one does, but it’s not like sniper arsonists are a regular occurrence.
Up here where there are much less firearms I have seen or heard of the odd forestry worker carrying a defender for the bears, I know hand guns are restricted and a shotgun might be easier to get
Nope. But, like i alluded to earlier, my surveyor buddies have had enough run-ins with methheads and bundys over the years to carry personal protection when working in areas with those kind of people about. Obviously not going to protect against a concealed sniper ambush, but can provide protection against methheads thinking youre robbing their cookout, or bundys thinking you are gubberment taking/spying on their land.
Not that far north of the 49th, back when BC outdoor bud was a hot cross-border commodity, during field work I would regularly run into pot plantations of various size and investment. Never ran into a booby trap, but was given the hairy hilbilly eyeball from many a sketch character in a beater vehicle inching along the FSR.
If the work I was doing would lead to some forestry treatment that would impact the agri-forestry horticulture, I would go to the local watering hole and order a beer. Small towns and all, and each drainage or face area unit had one lead ‘buyer’ that knew everyone growing in their territory. A field map and a beer on the bar, a couple inquiries as to whose area it was, and the conversation would end with a ‘thank you very much for the heads up, we’ll make sure the site is clean by the time the crews get there’ (or at least the valuables removed), and my tab paid. Never an issue. But then weed isn’t meth so there is that.
Never ran into a bear alone in the field that couldn’t be dealt with an indirect gaze and shuffle in a 45 away from bruin. Problem bears at camp or trailheads that were habituated needed a dedicated guard with the bear most often ending up dead (been that guy a couple times). The odd exception exists, but the vast majority of problem bear encounters in the woods can be dealt with a canister of spray, and a level head. Bears typically are not the source of the problem.
I asked my old LL the senior Bio if he ever came upon pot plantations and he said " Oh yes we refer to that as an exotic species and we just leave it alone"
My ski bud used to own the local Valhalla Pure and he told me the Nelson VP had the highest ( pun intended) cash sales in the entire chain cuz grow op cash would be laundered on skis/ bikes/ PU trucks
I only ever seen a guy carrying a defender once and that was a guy walking it into his apartment after a shift in the woods
now days of course its 100% legal in Canada the one thing Turdeau did not entirely fuck up and lose his job over so the dispensary is at the end of the street owned/ run by the defense lawyer's and the anestitist's kids
Ya, weed went south, usually to a farmers field airstrip in Wash., Id., or Mont., and north would come some american greenback, hard drugs (coke, smack) and handguns. Couldn’t get all that USD into the banks without alarms sounding, so all the local businesses were flush with Yankee Doodle dollars.
Fun times.
"" With nearly 100 certified organic farms (40% of all farms), the Cawston area has the highest concentration of organic farms in Canada, ""
so a cop pulls you over and sees cawsotn on your license he will rip your truck apart looking for the bud
They ^^ were not all sucessful from raising mung beans and peas shoots
A buddy telling me about his brother lived in Cawston said it was the epi center of the bidness which I did not know
Bro was having maritial issues SO imagine the problems splitting up an organic farm financed entirely from grow ops
where did all this $$$$$$ come ?
I think carrying a hand gun for bar is like bringing a knife to gun fight
A buddy used to work at the youth camp ( now lawyer ) where they promoted better behavior by -20 dips in the lake, chopping wood, forced marches, building hike trails at one point every outdoor person I met in the narth was coming thru that facility as a counselor.
He told me me he had a defender for the bush so i asked him how that was cuz he was not really a gun person sez he tested it on an old stove from 40 ft and missed so he went back and bought the folding stock
It’s very possible a landowner could perceive whatever the surveyor is shooting could have a negative impact on their life / property. Nimbyism and all… Hence the desire for protection.
However, Typically when the FD shows up - you really fucking need their help.

How many bundys and methheads are you willing to gun down to close a traverse bro?
And where I come up we spank 4-foot blackies on the butt for gettin in our garages. We don't shoot them and say they charged us until they get rug-sized...
If you feel threatened OTJ, leave and call the cops. It's still what theyre there for, for the time being.
I was the stick bitch so any problems just stab them with the pointy end
Not many 3-man+ crews anymore. The crew chief usually runs the rod and his lesser-experienced i-man is there for the scut, and to be another set of eyes and ears. Surveyors usually hire careerists out of school anymore too, unless their practice involves a lot of scut or warm-body work in the field.
Idaho firefighter Dave Tysdal is now upgraded to stable condition. If there's a tiny silver lining it's that rapid gunshot hemorrhage control saves lives. Dave was surrounded by people who knew what to do. Oftentimes quick intervention is impossible with an active shooter
"" The crew chief usually runs the rod and his lesser-experienced i-man is there for the scut ""
So if you wanted/ needed an assistant on very short shortnotice as in I donot know you and you call at 8pm the night before for a very short job and we both know we will never work again unles yer hard up again, I was yer man and I always showed up altho I may have been somewhat arrogant
" hey come over here and I will show you how to run the gun"
"yeah I will just run this stick and you run your fucking gun eh "
I worked a little for 4 or 5 outfits so I havent done it in a bit but I have heard with the new gear alot of it now is done solo
Man - surveyors have it tough.
Snakes want to bite them.
Bears want to eat them.
Hicks want to shoot them.
GCs want to sue them for $1m layout busts.
CEs bitch about their for poor quality
background topos.
Operators like to track over their work 20min after staking.
It’s a lose lose profession. At least you get a good raccoon tan.

Fucking loose profession indeed, fucking lead guy forgets to charge the batteries in the Total station so we have to keep hitting up the block heaterplugs at the Cat dealer to get enough juice to finish the job but actulay he wasnt the worst cuz he never tried to kill me
I worked with this crazy fucking communist frenchman ( but good at auto cad) whom I would get into a screaming match with every day, fucking idiot does something on the total station and erases 3 days of work
but that is nothing cuz the next job after laying out the new shitters at Red Chris mine buddy falls asleep at 60 MPH and the next thing i wake up to the bottom of the ditch going by at 60mph, only 6 inches from my face which i still remember vividly, the bosses brand new tacoma pitch poles on a culvert in that ditch and does a 180 in the air, its cloudy out so when I crawl out the window so I am totally disoriented I have NO idea which way is north or south or any fucking where
I get a ride back with the towtruck driver towing the bosses totaled brand new Tacoma, i realize tow truck buddy trys to convert every crash victim to jesus, calling the boss to tell him the truck is totalled was rough
you got it tough I seen the toughest around to quote David Lee Roth
How do you keep from getting lost in the woods? Keep a surveyors stake in your pack.
If you ever get turned around, just pound the stake in the ground and sit back and wait. Within a half hour a truck will show up and run it over, and then you can get a ride back to camp.
these guy were always getting lost I mean we knew where we were in the grand scheme but they were lost in their total station and they want me to learn how to run the gun yeah fuck off eh ? The cheapest surveyer was 550 a day at that time and the most expensive was a BCLS surveyor who was 700 a day whom I have also worked for SO IME if there is one thing I learned IF I was getting survey work done I would pay the 700 for the BCLS guys who in BC had the license to layout lots
They were extremly sharp always showed up to work with the best gear always in the best shape and they were never lost in their total station
me i only only had to figure out which was the sharp end of the stick
