Xtra Tuff for around town. Line space boots when I'm skiing.
I have the Stio mids, easy on and off. Plenty warm.
Blunds on the other days. Xtra Tuff when I am really lazy. Line Booties to the hill, or the Stios, or winter crocs when I am really lazy and it's dry.
Two full pages on grocery store shoes? Holy fuck you boomers is getting old!
go fuckin’ skiing!

This. I love blundstones but they suck ass if you’re actually out in snow and ice at all. I guess I need to try the Vibram sole ones nextQuote:

I've done that with Merrell moccasins, finished the cut edge with AQS

Lined Crocs.
Great for driving to the hill too... The slip on and off fast for getting geared up in the parking lot .

I'm mostly happy with my Salomon snow clogs. This is the second or third race trip I've been on without bringing a second pair of shoes, and while I wish they were a little closer to the model of twenty years ago, they work pretty well overall. They're more stretchy than the old ones I had, which makes for better retention in general but also means they don't fit as well with particularly bulky socks.
Trying to take my dog out in them would be a serious failure of judgment, though; they feel like they'd slip off if I tried to actually run.
Hey Dude's are super comfy and light. There are some that are water resistant and have better soles. Good for winter grocery trips. I think I have 4 or 5 pairs. Cheap too.
Other shoes I have:
Blundtstones, two pairs. Love em. One pair is beat to shit from working in a brewery for a few year standing in chemicals, yeast, water, etc and still waterproof. Soles are slip resistant. Only complaint is the insoles, I replaced them with Dr Scholl's.
XtraTuff Ankle deck boot, Also awesome. Obviously waterproof, slip resistant, no breathability, my feet sweat like crazy in em.
FT (now line but mine are FT) Apre bootie 1.0 and 2.0. Super comfy for short walks, waterproof, good for plowing the driveway, walking the dog, etc. the 2.0 are a little more substantial. better for deep snow and a little more support.
On a related note, what are these snow boots that Lindsey is wearing? I don't recognize them -- are they popular in Europe and/or is she sponsored by them?

Those are Muff Divers, and I believe yes, she is sponsored.

I don’t. I mean the Lange Podium shoe is ugly as fuck to every citizen in the world who has no idea what Lange is. But those who know, know.
Who am I kidding? I wear them as a pure, dorky aim to be secretly cool.
Ok, that’s not true either. I wear them because I think I’m cool for a few moments a day.
Actually they fit my foot like the lower half of my Lange liners when combined with my old footbeds. Yeah— Lange slippers.
Losers.
I first seen Crocs 2005 in a paddling magazine and I wasnt really sure, then I met a padder wearing them in 2006 and Crocs sure have taken off since then.
IME there is nothing better for paddling a seakayak cuz the water flows out along with the pebbles and I can kick them off in the boat cuz IME a bare foot is warmer than a bootied foot
Crocs do have a canted foot bed, pretty amazing shoe for the price really but the look right ?
so i don't wear them much around town
Merrell Hydro Moc is better in every way than Crocs.

Crocs + socks is the most comfortable footwear I own - but once they wear a little on the bottom they are slippery as fuck.

you could add traction with wait for it
aquaseal and sand or sft
the first set of crocs I ever seen 19 yrs ago had the heels worn down completely like those earth shoes
I have Xtratuf deck boots with a light fleece lining that I wear basically every day in the winter but they have objectively terrible grip on ice and packed snow. It's kind of fun sliding around if you're expecting it but definitely the wrong shoe if grip is important. I just love the easy on/off and they're comfy and weatherproof
Anybody have good options with better arch support? I have a broken foot that will likely require some arch support as I transition back into walking but all my shoes including my running shoes are pretty neutral. Birks seem like a solid option for foot rehab due to the stiff soles and added support, also keep seeing those Oofos things everywhere but can't tell if that's a gimmick
NO extratuffs up here, i never seen them until I went to AK and of course Deadliest Catch
Up in Canada there is a shop called Mark's that sells a few different boots with soles designed to grip on ice.
I can tell you that they don't grip as well on ice I would have thought they would, but they are definitely better than vibram on ice... That's for sure.
You still have to be a little cautious but they are a bit better than other options.

Also have a formerly broken (2x foot and a high arch). I typically just toss some footbeds into my winter boots since most are fairly flat soled.
Birks do offer support but it takes awhile for the cork to start to form to your foot so if you haven’t gone that route, you could have some sore feet for a bit.
Oofos are like crocs but a with a bit more supportive foam. Could be worth it to have a pair to wear around the house to give some support while cooking, waxing skis, etc.
Make sure to get PT after foot immobilization. My podiatrist sent me on my merry way after 10 weeks of immobilization due to a fracture and the POS never mentioned PT. I had a bunch of upstream problems later on, which eventually went away after PT.
I wear aftermarket footbeds in most of my shoes.
Dansko aren't the best traction, but they have the best support.
My wife has a policy about men in Danskos. If I wear them she will divorce me on-site. I think it is a little harsh. They sound comfy.
If you want warm, supportive and great traction on packed snow and ice-

These are my current cold season go-tos. No name brand found on shelf at a Nordstrom Rack or something and they just clicked.

Comfortable, decent traction, stand up well enough to slush, cheap, quality seems good.
I’m tempted to buy another pair because the downside of Rando-brands is that you know I’ll never find anything like it in a couple years when these are worn out.
Easy Spirits aren't rando! They look like a pump, but feel like a sneaker!
