Safe assumption is that there is an adjustable/removable wedge that goes inside a V cut in the top of the lower clog a la Kryptons.
As per bolts changing the flex of the boot... flex is more than just plastic stiffness. Is plastic stiffness fundamentally the most important part of it? Yes. But not the only. Removing a bolt changes the leverage over the spine and also increases the ability for minutes deformations that allow flex. It's semantics. Take out a bolt and your boot feels softer.
How's the instep height on the Roxas? Seems lower than Kryptons, and 45 deg cables also crush my instep/arches, took a lot of tension during 2 rounds of heat molding to compress and thin out the area over the instep to be tolerable for Kryptons.
Also, does the foam along the sole of their liner cause any issues? Last time I had a liner like that, I swear the fit changed depending on how cold it was outside even after heat molding.
Oh and I too would like to send a middle finger to Dalbello for axing the Kryptons

Respectfully disagree. Removing a cuff bolt decreases the leverage from the spine and therefore makes the boot feel like it has a softer flex. Flex ratings have nothing to do with the plastic used. They are entirely subjective with each manufacturer with no scientific standard. It comes down to how the boot feels and what fits with the marketing dept.
Yep. I bet one of those bolts adjusts forward lean, while the other twists a wedge tight in the back where the upper clog comes up on each side. My old lupo's had the drop in clips that did this, but my sister had a kyrpton with a bolt twist that did the same thing.
Well we base the flex on the materials used so that is why we say it does not change the actual flex of the boot. Yes the feeling changes but the flex itself does not change. But ultimately if a shop wants to sell it as a flex adjust that is fine we just will not say it as it is not technically correct.
Flex isn’t really defined outside of perceived resistance and response to forward pressure, so yeah it definitely changes the flex of a boot as a system. Does it change the energy required to deform the lower? No, but it definitely changes how much force a skier needs to “flex” forward into the boot.

Ironic since the original Cochise was like that. I suppose I lose some performance with the walk mode, but the Booster strap seems to really help with that. (Shift Pro 120). I suppose of I wanted it really stiff, I could go with something less elastic like the 130 might have. It's been warm here which sucks ass for ski boots.
But I did a tour in alpine boots with no walk mode, Intuition liners, and no flat touring mode, and that is the only time I lost toenails. So, um, yeah.
I stepped into a Rthree one thirty from a Lupo and the last is basically the same except there’re anatomic areas molded into the Roxa. They’re both Italian boots, the last is basically the same.

The AR ONE boot uses the same (in principle) Power Shift feature from the current Atomic Hawx Prime boot. Adding the top screw changes the feel of the initial portion of the boot's flex, making the boot more direct, more responsive. The Power Shift feature can also adjust the forward lean of the cuff from 13°-15-°17°.
If someone wants to change the flex in a more noticeably way, there will be softer tongues available.

K2 can’t adjust flex but they sure as shit adjust last width with BOA which is the magic that I live for.
All models of full tilt now FL3X use the same plastic flex moduls and only the tongue changes. It’s the tongue in those boot which dictate the flex (liner too). That is why 3 piece boots where you can swap out the tongues are truly the only boots you can change the flex without modifying the lower shell.

But that is why this boot is pretty rad. As Matt said you can change the tongue to adjust the flex and then you also have the ability to adjust the response with the bolts in the back. No other boot can do this. You can either adjust flex OR response but not both.

Is there any micro adjust on the slingshot buckle? I am not seeing it.
Not a spinny micro like you are used to, but there are normal toothplate steps, different mounting positions on the Y-band, and a small flip chip that secures the toothplate to the Y-band that offers fine-tune positioning. Also, because the cable moves around a pulley, the effect of moving one toothplate position is a little less than a standard buckle, which means not as big of jump where you want to turn your micro to find the happy medium.

On the liner tongue? A fair bit. Like a World Cup racing liner, you can position each tongue fore/aft to individually match up to your feet in the way that works for each.
These liners (along with any liner that uses a Velcro-fixation tongue) are also compatible with Atomic's V3 Tongue System where you can pick from 3 different tongue thicknesses to further perfect the fit over your instep and/or shin.

You could also minimize the chamfered surface over the toe and angle the toe out a bit (and fix the low/shallow calcaneus while you're at it) and achieve the same effect, but we're talking about a lot of money to update all the Ultra molds. If a customer complains about the length of an ultra, I tell them they won't notice it after I heat mold the boot and 95% of the time I'm right; for the whiners, a 1st distal phalanges punch is simple.
