It does strike me that extreme sports content could be pretty spectacular in The Sphere (as I understand it, not having been there yet). Like IMAX has been to regular movie theaters. And like true IMAX, would need some special production considerations.

Went to Saturday night's show. Holy shit, what a ride.

Shakedown, St. Stephen, Stella Blue and Brokedown Palace were so good for me. Mayer absolutely rips on guitar; deserves all the credit he gets. His voice fits so well too in my opinion.
The drums>space with the breeze they create and the haptics booming your seats had me pretty gripped for a moment there. I got completely lost in several of the visuals like the rainbow road to space. Such a nice crowd of people too. Everyone was happy, dancing and being hospitable to each other. All ages too.
To bring home the TRG connection, a clip from Fire on the Mountain with Benchetler ripping down the mountin in the glowing night suit showed up during Althea (I think).
It was so completely different than anything I'd seen/gone to so that alone makes it worth it to me. It will take a pretty special act to get me back.

Nice, thanks for sharing. Was just talking to a buddy who was at the same show and comparing notes about how the show was a literal trip from open to close, dropping you right back where you took off from, and damn, if that isn't exactly what Mayer and Hart were talking about.
Pretty good article from a crusty Deadhead. I tend to agree with a lot of this, but I was able to enjoy the suspension of disbelief a little more, and just enjoy the thing without over-analyzing. (But I did quite a bit of that as well).
