How many Snowbird Seven Summits passes?

Thanks Mudfoot for the info I was looking for. 45 x 31K is $1,395,000!

When I first started skiing Snowbird regularly in 1986 they would put 115 ish on the tram with very few people coming through the back door plus they would run it at 10m/s (22mph). Now days they put 80 ish on the tram and let 35 through the back door so only about 45 regular people make it on a powder day plus they only run it around 8 m/s (18mph). I hardly ever ski the tram anymore unless it is a midweek groomer day when there is short line and few people coming through the back door.

The new tram does suck but I rarely see more than five or ten cutting the line.

If it’s more than about a two boat wait I’m on Zoom/Little Cloud these days though.

The info I have came through a member who describes his locker as a double, so maybe that explains the 100 number, but I don't know for sure. My info is second hand. I also know of families that come to the Bird regularly and pay thousands $ to hirer an instructor to ski with them just so they can cut the lift lines and sometimes have a group of more than 10 people. Money doesn't have to stand in line.

Speaking of having more money than legs. CMH lodges generally run one copter with 4 groups of 10 clients. The base price for a week, not including extra vertical, is now around $13,500. I've heard that they often only have two groups left by Wednesday. Imagine spending that kind of scratch and not even flying after 3 days.

Yep, two boat wait tops. According to a friend who knows people (and I'm pretty sure is a mutual acquaintance, BN) the rumor is someone f'ed up during the ordering process and forgot to account for gear weight when they gave the specs to Doppelmayr. Whoops....

That sounds about right. Extra stupid though because it’s common knowledge the old one could hold 125 in the summer but only 100 in the winter for that exact reason.

To their credit they seem to be loading more people and running it in higher winds more consistently this year.

Im under the impression that all of the new Dopp lifts are fucky.

I also only see five or ten cutting the line when I ride it as well that is because I only ride it when the demand (groomer day) is low, if it the morning of a powder day you get a full 35 through the back door.

One more question? Does anyone know what year the Seven Summits pass first went on sale? I think it was in the 90's?
