Well fuck. Hearing that a former resident of CB/ current Utah died in an avalanche in Kosovo today too.

I'm still trying to process that he's gone as he was one of many familiar faces that I'd randomly bump into around the Gunnison Valley, always with a big grin on his face.
We didn't ski or bike a ton together, but we were in the same social circle and spent a lot of time around each other. He was like family to many of my friends, and I feel for them in a way that I'm having trouble putting together.
One memorable experience with Eric was when we rafted the Gunnison Gorge when the Blue Mesa was over the spillway, summer 2014 I believe? It was my first time rafting big water like that and it was wild, but being with a solid crew made it a little less scary. It was one of those days that Freson strapped on the go pro, so we knew shit was about to get real.

Really makes one step back and contemplate the purpose of life - our time here is limited and you'll never know what day is your last. Sounds like a memorial service is being planned for Saturday in Gunnison, will update when I hear more details. Guessing there will be an announcement in CB News/Gunnison Times tomorrow.

Eric's memorial service epitomized the kind of guy he was. So many people were present from so many different social circles. It also was a great example of how a small community comes together in a time of crisis to be there for each other.
