^^thats promising. Good conditions to try them with the melt freeze snow. Does anyone have any updates on the model year of pivots we'll need for 2.0?

Put these on new skis which I was reluctant to take out in our low tide conditions. However it is snowing now, and I've had them out a few days at the hill and gone for a couple of small, low commitment walks.
First impression: nailed it.
It feels like all the little issues I had with the 1.0 versions has been addressed.
- The tech toes feel secure. I had some issues with coming out of the 1.0 toes on icy sidehills.
- They click in to my boot much more easily than the 1.0 ones
- The touring lockout doesn't seem to over cam and get jammed (time will tell on this one).
- So far super slick switching modes due to the toe 'puck'
- Had a little bit of melt freeze today and no issues with the latch or anything else.
Brake retainers seem to be same-same as far as I can tell.
Things I am excited about:
- I mounted these on inserts - now I can have the option of Dynafits for "real" touring days.
- I'm cheap and having inserts means that I can reuse the second ski kits on multiple sets of skis, while also getting flat skis for easier storage.
- The mount was easy compared to trying to get the studs dialed in perfectly for the 1.0 toes.
I will be skiing these 4-5 days a week, so should have some insight into durability by the end of the season.
Nice!

Another small walk today, and I noted that you need to clean out any snow behind the puck before you remount the ski toes. NBD, there's not anything to catch it, so a quick swipe with your hand or the edge of the binding plate if it's icy.
Otherwise it gets caught up between the purple plate and the puck. Easy enough to fix, but could set you up for a lost toe as it can prevent the catch from engaging.
Probably obvious, but I'm playing the "be dumb and see what fails game" with these...
Please tell me these Pivots will be available!Attachment 486775
Yeah they are available, if you buy a cast setup
As a small dealer of Cast in the Great White North I can say I love the new system. All the fiddly bits of the old system are gone and the new interface is much better. I never understood the old pin toe sliding on from the from which in turn meant it could kick off from the front if there was ice and or the latch didn't click.
We were allocated one complete system (the purple pivot) and it sold in about 3 days, was much easier to mount than 1.0.
I also think the new system will work 1000x better with previously mounted skis as sometimes the stainless plate and post would not get or stay flat if the topsheet was not absolutely completely flat.
Interesting you guys were able to get "kits" as we were told the only option was complete sets.
Mod kits, and 2nd ski kits were available for the few days that they were on the website, before it all sold out. So easy to mount.
I haven't added Dynafit inserts yet, but I know from past exploration that the toes do not overlap any holes. Not sure about the heels.
Unfortunately I have had an issue with my 2.0 setup last weekend. CAST was super gracious as usual, and had replacement parts at my door in under 5 days (this is with international shipping) with no questions. This might sound hard to believe but both of my touring toes broke in exactly the same manner, within 10' of each other on the skin track. I can't seem to post pics on TGR these days, but basically the left tech pin arm broke right across the hole where the pin is fixed. Non functional obviously, and I'm glad that I wasn't somewhere that I needed to walk out of. New protocol for me will be a close visual inspection before and after each transition... My theory is a slight worn tool producing an undersized hole leading to too much stress from the pin when it was inserted? Who knows yet.
Only about 8-10 fairly mellow walks on them before they failed.
any news on these? issues? incompatibilities? failures?
All the pairs I got my hands on last year looked bombproof. Also, I heard direct from CAST that there will be a few Freetour 2.0 Upgrade kits for the Pivot 2.0 this season if you are so inclined.
pre orders started today
should start shipping oct 15
Kind of sucks there is no option to buy just the toe bases and tech toes to convert from 1.0 to 2.0
Everything you need

I never saw those options somehow. Holy shit they're proud of that stuff.
Well I just bought some. Curious if the pain of the weight, transitions, and risers will be balanced out by skiing pivots.
True but I don't know the answer until I climb up a couple hills with them on my feet
weight isn't that bad imo. sure there are lighter options but picking a good ski to put them on is part of the equation. I see (and personally had) CAST put on 2200g plus skis. sub 2000g but still at least 1700-1800g so you feel weight savings but can still ski them hard with a pivot. but the beauty is they don't weigh anymore than a normal pivot anymore so put them on whatever you want.
risers aren't too bad.. make sure you follow the mounting instructions for the risers/brake piece to make sure it works flawlessly.
transitions aren't terrible either and should be better with the 2.0.. lots of other systems have transitions where you're taking skis off as well.
try taking them to a shop that you know has mounted CAST before and don't be afraid to give them the tips from CAST
you'll also find a lot of people here advocate for mounting your own skis, myself included. it can feel a little intimidating at first but watch a few videos and you'll see its not too bad
CAST isn't any harder to mount than a pair of Pivots.
no, but the 1.0s at least had a sweet spot for swapping the toes.
the only 'tip' is with the brake/climbing aids. cast recommends setting the brake lock while you screw it in
For those who bought the complete pre-assembeled package; did they include the original pedestals?
And if not; does the Pivot 2.0 toe fit on a Pivot 1.0 pedestal? I guess yes; but want to confirm
And can anyone confirm that 1.0 toes fit on CAST 2.0? There seems to be a n=1 that they don't, but he can't be the only one who bought upgrade kits and put old toes on it
Hmm I thought 1.0/2.0 toes compatability on cast v2 is a given, but now that you bring it up, it could be a classic Twain “its we know for sure that just aint so” moment. Might drop cast an email and report back.

Yeah, when I actually took the time to check the FAQ on their site it says it's compatible. At least it doesn't mention P1.0 vs P2.0, so I guess that means all 15s/18s. It seems the poster earlier in the thread is plain unlucky. As such; ordering a complete set should remove any chance of recieveing a dud.
Copy.
I'll mail CAST about wether the P-pedestals are part of the package.
FYI, if you are just getting a second ski kit, it is $5 cheaper to just buy the brake lock/riser assembly and the toe baseplate separately than as the kit.
I received my upgrade kit a little over a week ago and I am very impressed with the new updates!
Man, do I appreciate how much easier they were to mount! With the Cast 1.0, my Line top shits volcanoed slightly during the mount causing the towers to misalign with the pedestals. It took me a minute to realize the topsheet was causing the issue. I should have done a bit more research on TGR before winging the mount haha. Luckily, this is now longer a problem with the 2.0’s.
I remember someone saying that the brake bail assembly was improved but it looks and operates very similar, if not the same.
It took me quite a while to gather all the equipment needed to tour safely so I didn’t get the chance to tour on the 1.0. I’ll be sharing my thoughts once I get the new system on snow. Feel free to pm me for a mount if you are located in OC, California. I also have the brake bail jig to make life easier.
I have been told by CAST that this was a tolerance error from an early batch. I just bought new ones from the new production and I'll report back on fit soon!
EDIT: Tolerance error can sound bad, but it is more of a result of the early Forza towers being a different width than newer towers.
Okay, so I reached out to CAST and will quote for clarity:
"Last year when producing the 2.0 we thought we made the alpine pedestals for all year Pivots. Unfortunately we found out the tolerances on some of the older Pivots did work with the new design of the 2.0. For the 24/25 season we made some tolerance changes to the alpine pedestals so that they will work with all the year Pivots again. All Freetour 2.0 currently available on the market will work with any year Pivots."
Anyone done inserts yet? Trying to figure out what screws I might need for the base plates.
Thanks for posting that. Ive been wondering since the early days of this thread.
For screw size for inserts i often get them too long and cut to length. Cant miss that way
