curious- i had the gen 1 transfer , or maybe it was two? anyway the one with the prior seat tube clamp , never had an issue with it,
was the last inch bad seal issue a bigger issue with the current model/new seat clamp style, or some of y'all had issues with gen 1 too?
also for all the v2 oneup love, i never got it. had a 210, always rattled, seat clamps always creaked. sold it at a loss , but someone is loving it now. just don't get it, but the v3 has me interested again if you believe the marketing speak about the anti rotation stuff, more pins, and lightweight, might make a fun option in 180 for my WW stumpy build
Droppers are weird some people have bad experiences. I own two transfers.
Per Strava have a v1 that has 6500ish miles on it (bought it used) and it’s never been rebuilt. Works fine. A bit slower return now but it’s fine. Mainly an issue with a bikepacking seat bag.
I have a v2 with about 3000 miles on a different bike. No rebuilds. Feels like new.
The only post that ever gave me issues was a 2015 reverb… fussy getting it bled a few times but fine after that. Tangential but I have some buddies who immediately hack up their shifting. I have a theory that they don’t soft pedal as the cassette changes gears and damage the shift ramps on a cassette. A few hundred miles in and the bike just won’t really shift right anymore. Kinda like how a good how a driver can get 300k out of a manual transmission in a car and a bad driver gets 80k.
Is this the case with droppers or am I just lucky? I just don’t know how I’ve never really had issues… KS? No issues. Fox? No issues. Bike Yoke? No issues.
I have a new bike that came with a Transfer. Believe it or not, my first dropper. If/When this thing dies, how do I pull it while keeping the internally routed cable in place? On vacations, I'll make sure I have a non-dropper with me and want the least hassle to remove and reinstall the dropper once fixed.
I've done zero research on these, but I assume the cable is attached to the bottom of the post. Maybe they can't be removed and yet keep the cable in place. Pivot Mach 4 - am I making too much of a big deal, and the cable is easily threaded back into the frame anytime you remove the post and cable?
Transfer's cable nipple attaches at the bottom of the dropper post, and the cut cable is held at the bar lever with a set screw.
I typically undo the lever from the bar, push some housing into the frame, and lift the post out of the bike, unhook the cable from the post.

Thanks Dee - looks and sounds easy enough for camping repairs.
