No sadness at all.
Grateful and happy to have enjoyed the music and vibes.
That song was in my head all day Saturday after I heard the news.

Great thread. Guy was a legend & stand up dude. After listening to the A1A album I graduated culinary school, packed up my crown Vic with everything I owned & moved to FL to be a beach bum. I cooked for him at his house in palm beach in 99. After dinner he came and sat down in the kitchen & chatted for a half hour with me. Then got on the piano with his kids and started playing and singing. Effing amazing! Super nice down to earth dude.
I was on the tarmac 2 or 3 summers ago in Montauk getting on my bosses plane he was behind me and I heard his voice knew it was him. Got a picture with him. He and my boss ended up talking planes for ten minutes. Sail on brother…..

Really enjoying all these stories like this.
Pretty cool to hear about a guy making the world his oyster all while being a smiling face and friend to everyone he met.
Makes you think.
Makes me kinda wish I had liked his music and was a parrothead
Spent the weekend cruising around the Maine coast listening to Jimmy Buffett most of the time after not really listening to him regularly for probably close to two decades. Pretty much listened to all complete albums released in the '70's, without hesitation I was singing along and realizing how many songs of his I more or less know the words to was astounding. All those hours of listening and not a single cheeseburger, fins, volcano or margaritaville played over the van stereo. Gulf and Western just how he started out and I now realize that my current quest for good country music started listening to Jimmy all those years ago.
Singer, songwriter, story teller, all around good human with a sense of humor who built an empire and a community based on a vibe.
Bubbles up Jimmy

Been a casual Jimmy fan for many years. When I was in college many years ago and before his popularity, he came to play. Tickets were $1.00. None of us knew who he was so no one went.
With the advent of Sirius XM, Margaritaville is my usual listening, especially when on the boat.
About six years ago, my daughter got us tickets for Christmas for his New Year show in Nashville. I proceeded to break my femur in November, but still managed to make the show, albeit on crutches.
I guess Growing Older But Not Up is his tribute to us old farts trying youth sports.
I rounded first, never thought of the worst
As I studied the shortstop's position
Crack went my leg like the shell of an egg
Someone call a decent physician
I'm no Pete Rose
I can't pretend
Though my mind is quite flexible
These brittle bones don't bend
I'm growing older but not up
My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck
Let those winds of time blow over my head
I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead
Thanks for linking that.
