pete rose can fuck off. he’s a liar and an asshole. i can’t imagine people wasting so much time thinking about this turd, guess i was born too late in the wrong place though.
All that being true, it's still ridiculous how far MLB is leaning into gambling while the all-time hit king is banned for the same thing.
manfred is terrible. that said it’s also not the same thing and you know it.
Of course its not the same thing, but there's some mental gymnastics in baseball when you've got A-roid and others as members in good standing and Pete on the black list while the MLB inks deals with sportsbooks.
I'm not even a Pete homer (as mentioned, he's a gross dude who is all about one person, himself) I just think baseball is loaded with contradictions and this one is pretty glaring as we enter the 2023 season brought to you by DraftKings.
My son is in his 3rd week of baseball practice and its pretty great listening to the sounds of the game again.
I aspire to be this guy (minus the dreads and baseball career and sailboat): https://nyti.ms/3YXQwXQ
Who the hell wouldn’t want a major league baseball career where you caught a perfect game, millions of dollars, and live out the rest of your days on a comfortable yet modest sailboat in the Caribbean?
Danno, sometimes I really doubt your commitment to sparkle motion.
Yep, that’s exactly it millions of unwitting cable subscribers subsidizing good chunks of the payroll for 14 major league baseball teams.
No wonder Arte Moreno decided to not sell. The pool of willing billionaires who would jump in with tv revenues in such flux is probably pretty small.
the sailboat came with the guitar and chica
Of course I would take all that. I just meant that I don't aspire to be a baseball player because I never played baseball, and while a sailboat in the caribbean sounds great, I'm more of a mountains guy. But sure, I would happily step into his shoes, 100%, that was the point of my post.
RIP Tim McCarver
My wife was listening to a podcast this morning, and I started to hear things like "ten cent beer" and "pitcher's mound" and "umpires," so I asked her if she was listening to something about the 10 cent beer night in Cleveland. Apparently the podcast My Favorite Murder did a whole segment on it! Lol. Good to bring all the true crime girlies into the dumpster fire of Cleveland sports.

So funny
"The Indians rushed to the field as a professional courtesy to fist fight their own fans"
You just can't get that kind of action in today's game.
I need to get back to the Jake again this summer somehow for $2 beer / $1 hotdog night
Now that’s funny. The universe is trying to tell us it’s Cleveland’s year.
Probably.
Something like that
I'll be dropping in maybe mid May around the time I switch out the hockey jerseys with the Mets jerseys.... unless the Hurricanes make it to the finals, then it will be early June instead.
There is a lot I really dont like about baseball this year with the schedule and rules and other assorted nonsense but somewhere in Arizona Clayton Kershaw has a baseball in his left hand and all is right with the world.
Personally, I'm looking forward to see how the rule changes will affect the game. Pitch clock will definitely shorten it, but I wonder if it will impact some of the hard throwers due to less recovery time between pitches. Minor, but it could be something.
I don't think the shift restrictions will have as much impact as people think. You can still shift pretty heavily and I imagine some lefties may sneak a few more hits through the hole on the right side, but I can't see it really doing too much.
The throw over rule and larger bases could change a lot though. I'm hoping stolen bases go up considerably since it's one of the more exciting plays in baseball. There's going to be some interesting strategies developed no doubt so that should be fun too.
the stuff people are making on youtube is incredible these days. newest sub for me:
and the hits keep coming

There’s no new info in any of these articles. And no indication that MLB didn’t know any of this already.
Don’t forget the Yankees got caught cheating at the same time as well.

Best name of any athlete ever.
Hate to pitch to that guy.
All time W leader, Jonny Dickshot
There's no new info? seems like a lot has been coming out. Cora is talking, Mookie is talking... Sure, MLB knows and Manfred fucked the whole thing up. It's as bad as steroids, inconsistent balls, gambling. What haven't they fucked up?
And of course a lot of teams cheated (there's a lot of finger pointing about the 2015 Royals) some better and more persistent but after the warnings... a few teams kept cheating.
Have an asterisk, buddy.
Yankees would love to have something to add an asterisk to.
Checked out the video; nicely done!
I can't believe you did the pull from ATL --> CLE all in one day and worked the Tail of the Dragon in there along the way. On a bike.
I do that in a comfortable car at least twice a year and I'm gassed. I'd be curious to know the route you took from ATL to the Dragon as the N. Ga mountains have some of the best driving roads in the country, full stop.
Nice to know that the ends justify the means for Red Sox and Astros fans, MLB agrees. Travesty.
Thanks man! Yeah, it was a huge day for sure, especially coming off of Miami to Atlanta the day before. I did like 1400 miles in two days. I don’t know what I was thinking. Haha.
I took 575 north and then wound my way up from there. It was hands down the best riding I did on that entire trip. That part of the country is so nice. Just perfect roads and amazing scenery. At one point in Tennessee I was riding along a river full of rafters and kayakers. Pretty cool stuff.
