Oh shit, that has my attention. From the renders on the site I was thinking they had more camber than that.

FKNA, Marshal, this is cool as hell. Good luck on your endeavor!
I'm broke AF right now, and not much of a charger these days, so lots has to change in my life for these skis to speak to me, but I love the idea.
Damn, a slightly more manageable Legend Pro sounds dreamy. I loved that ski so much but got to a point where I spent most of my time touring and on the few days I got at the resort I couldn't really handle them as they weren't exactly forgiving. They tended to handle me pretty hard though...
The 120 metal seems like a big dump, with a bit more tip and tail and thus more sidecut
I like it. More useful than the original.
Curious about why not more tip rocker, once you put metal in a ski.
E.g. why not a metal version of a lotus 120?
My bamboo flex 3 lotus 120 is super stable at high speed.
The red sled regular flex is tip flappy at high speed on a groomer.
Both are fun in fresh pow.
I’ve often wondered about a metal lotus 120 flex 2 that could be softer and yet damp.
I know Stephan was all about light and snappy. And carbon.
It wasn’t until the end when he got to pure 3 and hybrid that dps started to get more damp.
Order 1001…does that mean I’m the first?
C’mon TGR mags…support this man for everything he’s done for our community…

I wasn’t thinking heavy.
Just a bit of metal and rubber. But with early rise and a bit of tail rocker, which is so playful in pow. Metal and rubber for dampness.
And wouldn’t have to be a lotus 120 clone.
Wouldn’t have to be hudge radius.
Just a thought I’ve always had about metal dampness and early rise slarving.
Has there been such a ski?
Playful in pow, but can charge through chunder.
The RP was so fun and playful. But no fun trying to bomb back to the lift in chunder. As is the 138. 138 dominates pow. But I never saw RP as a resort ski since it was so floppy. And if it’s pure pow, why not 138. Fuck the RP.
I know plenty of folks that liked the RP (wife still rides it), but they don’t charge. In which case, it’s a fun playful ski that never gets floppy since they don’t charge.
The RPC was fun. But lost the playfulness and slarve of the original. I wish Stephan hadn’t taken out so much rocker when going from RP to RPC.
I dig the fact that you’re bringing back some classics, with blended improvements. But maybe you can also make a new ski, based on your experience and insight.
Anyone have direct comparison between the super goats and the lotus 120?
@marshall what flex are these lotii coming in?

This is sick! If I ever get round to buying a snowmobile (I should start entering the lottery, it's my only hope) then I'll buy a 138 for sure!
I'm not that keen on any of the graphics to be honest, but that doesn't really matter.

Just bought a pair of 192 138s that I plan on using as a touring ski here in the Sierras, even the 202 got bucked around too much at the resorts here. Really interested in the 120 but I think I’ll need to ski it before I can commit.
This will be my fourth pair of 138s. Lol. 192 OG bamboo, then the 192 red ones before pure 3, the 202s, now these. Awesome stuff Marshal!
Edit, I’m order 1003, c’mon all you big talkers who lamented the disappearance of the Lotii, and Monsters. Put your money where your mouth is!

Let’s be honest, the RP was a garbage dentist ski. :fmicon: The RPC was an actual ski, and I still have my pair & use ‘‘em occasionally.
I have enough metal lam katanas and mantras I don’t need marshal’s R99 but I am tempted. I’d prefer a 192 but I understand the need to offer single sizes as this gets off the ground.
The overall concept is cool & FWIW I like the graphics. Especially on the 138.
"Go run over some tourists", lol
Order 1004 for some 138s. I always regretted selling my last pair. Glad to support Marshal. Radness!
I really love my RPCs, but have been considering going back to the 120s. Life is full of such difficult choices.
This is just one more kick in the bum to get my shit together. There are two skis in Marshal's lineup that I would purchase right now if my life were different.
Maybe it will always be that way. Maybe I'll always be wanting more.
Good play, Homie. I hope this business model stabilizes and becomes a standard. I'll order my next pair from you. I know what this is.
Am I wrong in thinking a 192 138 with some tectons would be the ultimate Japan ski? Planning to go if they ever open up again and that would be a good excuse to grab some of these...

Marshal you’re the man for doing this and hooking me up with those A-stars.
Gonna put in a big order :fmicon:
Also Marshal, any reason the R120 can’t be a bit longer? 187? I dream of a 191, but I wont ask for that.
I’m still going to buy it so no worries there ha.
R99, R120, L138 202cm lets goo
Order #06, let’s go mags!
This is such a great thing. Mad props for the effort. I hope that it works out well. Can you get your buddies from Alta/Bird to allow you to put up a "demo" tent near GMD? That could be a major coup.
Good luck
Is the Blossom Race Room the old Nordica factory?
Well since I just had ankle surgery...
order number 1007!!!
Wahoo Marshall thanks!!
Anyone on the fence needs to hop it. Marshall is like the easiest man to work with in these parts and always hooks people up with deals and knowledge. No doubt he will run this incredibly well if he can get the traction. None of the skis work for me but tuned into future developments. I wish I lived in a climate that justified (another pair of) 120s. Mine sadly collect dust but they glow with hope.
God, I'm slow.
Well that makes me feel a bit better. I have been on the RPs as a 50/50 ski for a while and the resort always seemed to beat them, and me, up. I definitely liked the RPC a bit more, as a few people have mentioned. Excited to mount my Enforcer Free's soon.
I'm in the same boat as Bobcat Sig - can you explain some of the models being recreated? Especially curious of the metal skis. Seems like Katanas and/or Mantras?
Exciting stuff, Marshal - nice work!
Just checked for Norway; 237 usd, unfortunately. Still cheaper than new DPS, though.

yeah, but the added cost pr pair is like 50 bucks, so bulking up is the way to go to end up at pretty standard rates. Unfortunately (as I do not want to buy more skis).
I need a new dedicated powder ski like I need a new bill, but those 138s look very, very interesting. Especially as I hate DPS with a passion and would consider these more than a second hand pair of the OG, especially as these are two generations merged.
Having never been on a 138 can anyone describe the differences between the generations, or maybe what is trying to be achieved by merging the tips and tails of these two generations? Getting super curious about these. Assuming these 138's would be the bomb for low angle trees in Japan.
I have later gen 138s, and I believe the lower rear rocker of the earlier gen would make them more stable on firmer snow at the expense of being slightly less playful in tight spots.
There's a long thread on Spatulas and 138s titled something like "ode to the Spatula" - lots of useful info there on the different versions of the 138.
Different versions of 138s are covered pretty extensively in here
Lotus 138--anyone prefer rocker 1 to rocker 3?

And Marshal, kudos - this whole endeavor looks rad!

can i have fish or unicorns
on my topsheet?
I’m wondering if it’s a scam. The original maggot marshalolsen would never use a wrong font on tgr classic blue background. I can’t see shit.
Who are you. And what have you done with the whelk and the mime and mr poundkey?
wait... wut? I just typed the reply into the box, haha.

METAL SKIS
The original pow skis (Axiom, Powder Plus), many of the first-wave comp skis (Im103, Super Nobis, Legend Pro, Stormrider SS/DP/Pro, Nordica FF105) in the were built with race ski construction. The use of this technique has generally died out recently (Monster 98/108, LPR105) due to the fact that it adds weight and cost.
Race ski construction generally means two things. (1) they use full VDS rubber sheet tip to tail and edge to edge and (2) they use microblock cores.
Most skis today use VDS tape (a small strip) placed on between the edge and sidewall below the core and between the topsheet and sidewall above the core. This is done to improve the bond line and prevent delaminations. VDS sheet is a different application. It give the ski that magically smooth and damp ride that those with time on old Legend Pros, Monsters, etc know and love. What makes it special is that it adds that soothness without affecting the skis rebound and energy. It adds at least $150 to the retail price of a ski, so normal big brand skis just don't use it.
With respect to cores, most freeride skis use ~25mm wide blocks laminated together to make the core. There are ~6-10 blocks of wood width-wise across the ski. Race skis are much narrower core block, often times <1cm. In a raceroom constructed fat ski, there can be 20-30 blocks width-wise. This changes the ski's torsion and it increases the dampness, because there is way more resin content in the core. It is also much more expensive to do. If memory serves, the IM103 had 28 core blocks width-wise.
Old school race manufactured skis ski unlike anything else. There is a reason those skis are pretty much all cult classics, and this is why it is a unicorn hunt to find them in decent condition today. But they were expensive to make then, never were produced in much quantity, and too expensive to produce today for less than $1000 and many of those have been neutered to become luxury skis.
Many of the old school skis also most all had weird design quirks, from cracking sidewalls on the Heads to topsheet delams on the LP, hooky tips on the Monsters 108, etc. So the my focus on this project is to apply best-in-class super dialed shaping to best-ever construction and make them attainable price-wise.
C138 ROCKER PROFILES
This is all one man's feedback and opinion, so take it with however many grains of sand you wish. So, I was fortunate enough to have skied essentially this same rocker profile as a test a number of years ago. I think about 5 pair were made. I believe Reidhresko has my old pair. Cbrady21 has a similar pair that was made with this style tip, just without the flat spot (full rocker) as well. The punchline is... this is the rocker you want. It was not, to me, a weird amalgamation. It was the ideal balance between surfy and stability. Sure I could just just do a Rocker 1 or Rocker 2, but when I think this "Rocker 1.5" is the best that has been... I am putting my money where my mouth is and making it so...haha!
Personally, I think it is the ideal powder touring compliment to a BGT108 (which is my every day BC ski, and basically perfect for that use, IMO). Still light enough to tour well with Tectons or similar, but good to go for all ends of the earth travel.
That is my logic, anyways. Curious for other's thoughts.
COLOR=#333333 sucks.
Your treadle on the hozenpflaffle is out of alignment.
I could go with black graphics and your yellow erlenmeyeresque icon.Quote:

The R120 just keeps getting more appealing every time you talk about metal skis. Time to sell some stuff.
