M*A*S*H is probably my number 1. A show that can make you crack up and cry in 22 minutes.
Seinfeld is absolutely brilliant, but it's not my favorite. Best ever, yeah, maybe, but it's hard to put it at the top of the list when none of them are likeable. Which I know is the point, but...
Do the Simpsons and South Park count?
the best one I have seen in recent years is Parks and Rec.

Friends/Laverne & Shirley/WKRP/The Good Place/Frasier/Fresh Prince/Family Matters somewhere mixed up the rest of the top 10. Can we still say the Cosby Show was good, or are we required to hate all things Cosby now?
I can't say I've followed many sitcoms since 2000. Maybe 2.5 men, but it doesn't belong with the top 5. The rest I tried to follow but ultimately gave up on because the characters was just too grating. I'm looking at you Big Bang/Schitts Creek. I know I should watch Curb, need to make time for it. It would probably make my top 5.
Early mash was good. Had the edginess of the movie.
Colonel Blake was classic bumbling c.o.
Once colonel potter came on, it progressed into sap and messages and minimal humor. The last few years were pathetic.
Rewatch the movie, and realize how far they strayed.
Python is sketch comedy. But awesome.
Before my time, but the honeymooners deserves a mention. A black and white married with children.
I can't believe no love for MTM or the Bob Newhart show. The writing was TIGHT for those shows. Great casts. Bob Newhart, a stand-up and comedic genius with incredible timing. MTM, while easy on the eyes was very smart and funny and a damn good actress.

Great mention - Fernwood 2 night. Groundbreaking stuff.
I worked a job with Martin Mull and he was awesome. Very appreciative and he liked hanging and chatting with the trades during breaks and lunch. I don't get star struck for many, but he definitely was one of the few.

How I met your mother spoke to me in a "you're in that stage of life" way and i like romantic things. and i also enjoyed big bang theory until it was all about the girls additions (season 3 or 4).
Marvelous ms. maisel is decent. (is it a sitcom?)
But i've never had any favourites. Im not much of a sitcom guy. unless you count the orville. which is way better than anything in this thread. Period. And i say this although i don't know much about sitcoms :)

That said, it has added more to our lexicon than any other show I can think of. So many things that are now well known figures of speech, idioms, etc, that came from Seinfeld.
Heck, the fact that they had an entire episode about masturbation without once using the word or any currently existing idioms for it, is pretty damn brilliant. And through that, they created their own.
