Good footage, but some funny claims in there. Uncontrolled backcountry with no closed signs...yeah, no

Love to see this bumped again. If was smart I would know how to put more photos in.
I am amazed that all the big resorts are charging over 200 for a day ticket. No of the resorts will ever come close the experience, pow, the terrain, and friends you will meet/make on your day of adventure.
You couldn't be more correct when it is unguided. Silverton guided leaves a lot to be desired for me. Maybe its the freeride mentality in that I want to be "free" to ski where I want. I don't like being told to "stay between my track and that tree".
and I wish they would open the damn billboard again. I know rope dee 4/dope chute is close, but skiing off the top from the billboard was such a cool experience.
I think Telluride, right over the hill provides a much better experience than Silverton guided.
I've had some really fun days going guided there. I never felt restricted really.
Doesn't that east facing stuff get cooked? I have been skiing at around 12000' in the San Juans all week. This heat has definitely put a zipper crust on east facing.
I don't mind.
It's a different experience. But part of the request to stack tracks is to allow more people to get a few fresh turns. And skier compaction.
I know lots of people who feel the same way about not wanting to be guided and constricted. I can respect that, no need for the cheepness.
It's how it works there. I think the. people that work there are a kickass team
Love T'ride too, but it's gotten too expensive .
The structure. The work. The love. And the madness.
Textured sky, soft snow.
If by that you mean that I get to ignore the stacking requests, you'd be wrong.
If anything, that's why I have great friends and respect here. Plus, I must not come off as just another self absorbed, entitled asshole.
Odd huh?
The skiing has been great, a little skiff of snow came in last night. Going for a little wander this afternoon.
Interesting!

Looks like it’s going to the first heli drop, forgot what it’s called - Grassy, maybe?
I wonder what kind of serious investors they’re looking for?
Did anybody check out any of the Whiteout music/festivities this weekend?

Nice, I hope they had a good time. This was my first year running the event.
My apologies to anyone that was staying at The Avon Sat night. We were bumping until about 1.

Ya'll put on a good one! It was a hell of an event. I wish I had been able to participate during the day but I had to work so I only made it to the afterparty which was a hoot. Too bad the liquor and long work week caught up to me and I bailed at midnight. Next time I'm riding all day!
Curious if Buster or anyone else can comment on the typical availability of getting a standby guided day in Mid March next year?
Was thinking that the unguided season pass + powder upgrade for half price standby days is a much better deal than paying for a 4 guided days at "retail" but don't want to end up skiing Silverton for the first time next year unguided. If the chances of getting to jump in a group on the "standby guided" option are pretty good I'm going to pull the trigger and buy the unguided season pass + upgrade but, if, otoh, it's rare to be able to jump in a group via the standby guided option I may need to reevaluate.
Thoughts?
February is the busy month and March is usually a slight step down in busyness.
One key in getting a standby is to plan for either Thursdays or Sundays, each of which are also a little less busy due to them being travel days for Front Rangers and Albuquerquios/Santa Feans.
The other important factor is to call or email, be nice and respectful to the office folks and ask to be put on a standby list. If you help them, they'll help you. Be low key and helpful and doors open.
Got a decent skiff of snow Monday and it's snowing lightly now with 1-3" predicted for town tonight, so this weekend should be good.
Currently dumping in Silverton.
Last week was a blast, ripping around with the best team in skiing.
Rolling to Taos shortly, back to Silverton Wednesday night.
Had a great day there on Friday. It wasn’t stupid deep, but we had fresh tracks all day. Eli was our guide and took good care of us. The crowd was very light as well even by Silverton standards
