No, I am afraid that isn't possible. Nothing is free.

Will I need to pay royalties to Backcountry.com when I recreate in the backcountry going forward? Am I allowed to buy a ski for use in the backcountry? Can I refer to the activities that I do in the outdoors away from populated areas as backcountry, or does the backcountry.com legal team have an alternate word for the entire industry to use now?
I hear the Forest Service has backcountry rangers - will they need to pay Backcountry.com for us of that title in the future?
There's a small café in Mazama Washington has the likeness of a goat on stickers, hats, t-shirts and mugs. Have for 25 years. They should sue them next, since they're the in business of having no soul.
FUCK THEM
All stickers should be resigned in fear of infringement. [emoji1596]
well I don't know if "stiff guy" is trademarked in the USA
but you guys might be FUBARED
Good call.
Get those gay stickers off your shit people.

This does beg the question: are goat herders and other producers of goat derived products now subject to legal action?
Also, if the goats are humping, can I leave the stickers on my pod?
Blessed are the cheese makers (including makers of all dairy products, cow, sheep, goat, etc.).
This is some seriously fucked up Orwellian bullshit. Screw those guys. This is why we can’t have nice things.
The more I think about it the more fucked up it gets.

Can I boycott a company I've never bought anything from?:confused:
This is some bullshit. After buying a few larger items on backcountry, like skis, there is a customer account manager who emails me periodically about shopping there. I just sent her a link to this article and let her know I will be reconsidering where I buy my outdoor gear.
didnt jesus say something like
whom amongst you has not worked for a company that has bagged on another company ( with which you highly identify in your pure and perfect lifestyle ) for trademark infringment ?
thoust may cast the first stone
I don't really jump on too many bandwagons but I refuse to ski at Sunshine in Banffff for systematicaly fucking over their employee's lowly ski bum
I know it's tempting to buy gear cheap online but this is a good reminder to support your local mom and pop shops, even if you have to pay a little more.
yeah but most people worship the filthy lucre,
and besides Mom n pop's dream is to be successful
which means ... selling out
I'm just a sidecountry skier, I have no dog in this fight.
Will definitely be looking much more to eve, STP and REI.
I may have to take the goat off my ski tips
That weak copyright case reminds me of the mythical lawsuit Warner Brothers took out against the Marx Brothers for the title of their film: "A Night in Casablanca".
As the popular myth goes, Groucho threatened a countersuit for WB's use of "Brothers".

In addition to a boycott I vote for a mass sticker tagging campaign.
One of you artsy, photochoppery talented mags needs to craft a sticker with their stupid Goat taking it in der poopenhousen. Group fund a production run of mass quantities. Ubiquitous hilarious placements with a thread to document results.
Win
Yet they sell Backcountry Access products..
Kohlberg & Company owns Backcountry Access..
Liberty Media Corporation owns Backcountry.com..
One day they'll sue each other over who really owns the word backcountry...

Guess none of you remember when Iggy named his powder ski the "Great Scott" after, well, himself. Then Scott Sports sent him a Cease and Desist letter. Result was the birth of the "Cease and Desist", and a backlash against Scott by maggots and newschoolers.
Interestingly, my backcountry skis are Praxis Backcountry. Wonder if they've sued Keith?
Does anyone have small stickers of an extended middle finger? I would affix them to my Backcountry skis so they are sticking up the butts of BC.com's goats.
ETA - Seatown's idea is good too...
