A few degrees either way will make or break it with regard to Baldy, it's going to be close.
Hard to say without knowing what Thunder Mtn looked like prior to storm. Good sign that the tops of the peaks are getting snow, but needs to cool down significantly.

Pretty juiced about the snow the San Bernardino mtns are getting this weekend. Recent local reports or forecasts for Baldy or Sugarloaf ski conditions? Interested in a Monday excursion, in case anyone has tips or interest in meeting up with a novice. Have gear and some common sense :)
Snow line is hovering about 7,800 feet, keep your fingers crossed that it holds and then drops around 4pm.
Might be a mistake, but I just purchased a lift ticket for Baldy ski area for tomorrow. Hopefully they get stuff running and traffic not too bad.
headed up to dawn patrol the bowl tomorrow. stoked.
Mountain high got some good snow, baldy should have potential just be safe

^^^Nice.
I ended up changing my mind on baldy ski area and not going up today, planning for Thursday. Sounds like 4 did not open today, but no other update on conditions.
Little bit of everything today; HUGE drifts, trees blown over into runs, 4" of thin sweet pow over 3' of super dense snow, wind-stripped rock, and sections of sketchy boilerplate. Skier's left fence on Skyline almost completely buried. Expert skiing to chair 1. Chair 3 didn't open until well after lunch, so there's still a considerable amount of untracked. Overall, several feet of super-dense base snow to carry through the season.

So stoked you guys are having a real winter down there.
Fun day at the ski area yesterday, conditions as 1000-oaks described. Got south bowl as patrol dropped the rope, https://www.facebook.com/Mt-Baldy-Sk...1570685574039/ and lapped it several times.
Got pretty warm in the afternoon, anything that got sun will be icy until it gets sun again.
Odd forecast for the weekend.
Was up there hiking last summer and the terrain looked incredible. Glad you guys are getting some.
Lapped South Bowl yesterday was so great

was thinking about getting out this week. If anyone's down to meet up message me.
2/10 storm came with a lot of wind. still skied fine, but not a ton of ski pen. another storm inbounds! it doesn't stop.

^^^any signs on wind slab instability? I bet N & E facing stuff is touchy next few days.
Took the wife to the ski area yesterday, skiing was lots of fun despite the wind. With traffic jam didn't get down the mountain until 11pm...fucking snow play assholes. Thankfully kids did fine with grandma at home. https://abc7.com/weather/freezing-te...baldy/5132301/

I should have known better, last time the forecast called for the road to stay snowed in, I parked at Ice house and hitch hike up in the morning with an easy ski back to truck past all the traffic jam in the afternoon.
stability seemed good to us. the windslab was on top for sure, but we observed that windslab to be well bonded to a very consolidated base, like can't-get-your-pole-thru-it consolidated. because of this we considered the steep east facing slopes we skied to be good to go.
that sucks to get stuck in that cluster yesterday, seemed heinous.

^^^It is going to be a bummer that all that snow will be washed away by 6" of rain arriving today through Friday.
I have high hopes for everything above 8k or so to still be ‘in’. fingers crossed....

Based on the dumpage at my buddy's house near Joshua Tree, i am hoping to see some deep Baldy stoke here shortly
If anyone goes out today, let us know how it is - buying a ticket for tomorrow
good fun up on baldy yesterday. good snow and bad snow was found based on aspect, with the more eastern facing stuff skiing real fine.

pretty spooky moment, on our way back to the car we watched a loose wet release run 1000' from the top of the standard up-route of the bowl. 1:30 in the afternoon on a super warm day. the new snow running on a pen hard rain crust. probably 6 people partially caught and carried, no burials fortunately.

^^^Nice
I wasn't sure what snow stability would be like, so planned low angle and in the trees for Sunday in the San Gorgonio Wilderness. First time in there since the burn and happy to find the skiing still good. Lack of getting rad was made up for with awesome powder turns for over 3k vert ft back to the road.

Looks great, 406. Makes me want to live in SoCal again
Anyone hit Mt Waterman? Was actually open this past weekend.
