I was getting nostalgic and found an pretty good bootleg of the 2001 Lateralus tour show I was at:

I have seen them several times after, but that was by far the best show. I always like outdoor venues.
Got me curious and I found my first Tool set on the youtubz.
Just audio but the accompanying pictures are legit.

^^^Opiate small stage tour would have been awesome to see. That is a really good recording, must have been plugged into the sound system, can't hear the crowd.
TOMORROW bitchasses!!!!!
I pre-bought the damn album a month ago. Can't wait to actually listen to it all day tomorrow.
I drove down from Montana with three friends to see Tool at the Salt Air in SLC, it was in November and Brighton was open so we skied a few groomers before th show. That’s all that was open. And met some old SLC friends and went to the concert later. I was sober at the time and have no regrets.
When I heard this song start, I was pretty confused for a bit on what song it was. Crowd sounds are fake though, the rest was not. His voice early on was incredible as you probably know . Now it’s different. Crazy show and great to see them in such a small venue right at the stage before they only played stadiums or festivals.

"If you haven't already scheduled a vacation day for Tool Day as I have, you might be in a tough spot. A Reddit thread suggests that the album should be available on Spotify (my streaming service of choice) at midnight EST. And this thing is long. The digital album is said to run 86+ minutes (hard-copy 79+)."
It's up on Spotify. Holy fuck, here we go.
Listened to a recent interview with Danny Carey... he said they spent 4 years Mon-Thu 1-5 developing the music for this album.
It landed on my iPhone. Will be working with headphones tomorrow.
I have Amazon Unlimited and it is on there too. Just pushed play.
Bye for now.
First listen done. Wow, gonna take years to pretend to understand that record. Those guys have put together some really complicated tunes.
Downloaded. I’ll be diving into this in my office for a while.

Waiting for my wife to leave, "working" from home. Gonna crank the SONOS AMP to 11.
Wow. It’s on AmazonPrime music for free (if you have Prime).
Coworkers will be ignored today and I may actually get some work done.

^^Ha, Hope you're good at multi-tasking! Descending x2 had me sitting here mesmerized for 30 minutes. Haven't even got to the longest song yet.
Tool is for pussies, too. Watch your cats ears during Mockingbeat.
Me and my cat are listening to it now.
I think I made it through 3 songs so far. I think I am also tripping balls.
Trippy but still meh. I miss the 90s Tool.
Amazon is giving an error when I try to play"We're Sorry We are unable to complete your action. Please try again later." And they don't seem to have the CD for sale. I really don't like amazon.
Works for me. Starting listen#2
looks like due to my 100 year old work computer, installed the app on phone.
That was a good Perfect Circle album :-) Liked Invincible and Descending best.
Yeah, 7empest also very good.
HOLY SHIT. All time..... Only Rock and Rollas i love I haven’t seen live. Fuck that, 1000 mile rule in effect, if they’re within that range, I’m going. Haven’t stopped listening since this morning......
I keep going back to Pneuma. The intro kinda sounds like Eminem's 8 Mile.
I played Descending for my girls on the way home from dance practice.
I asked if they liked it, and the 12 years old said, KINDA. Which is high praise from her.
Maynard should be proud.
First round of tour dates announced for next month.

Holy shit. Some complex songs. Best rock drumming I have maybe ever heard. Carey is basically the lead instrumentalist. Some crazy time signatures as well. Stoked to figure this one out for the next little bit.
So fucking good. I'm still wrapping my head around Pneuma.
I'm not too motivated to see them in a stadium again, ugh. I vaguely remember them doing the first leg of the tour in stadiums, then coming back much later to do the Red Rocks/Gorge/etc. but it's a gamble to wait and see...so looks like a future date night with the wife is Oct 18th for me.
Killing Joke opening is bad-ass.
Now pray I get tickets and hopefully a pre-sale code.
Really enjoying Descending now.
“Sound the dread alarm, through the primal body..”
Makes me want to rip my rib cage open and molt into a claymation worm and move in stop-motion.
Tool gives me flashbacks sometimes, took a lot of acid in the 90’s while listening to them.

Dammit - the DC stop is Monday of Thanksgiving week. We plan on being on vacation that week, either in Santa Barbara or (hopefully) Costa Rica.
