go see these guys
The magic is real!
You guys are making me want to see this group more than I expected. Too bad my musical hall passes for traveling are used up for the year or I'd head down for the CO shows. Happy with couch tour on 11/7!
It'll be interesting to see of these guys continue in '16 and beyond. Mayer seems better suited than I thought and with you guys raving about the experience, I wouldn't mind catching a show.
On another note....I was at the Panic run in Milwaukee a couple weeks back and on the way to one of the shows there was a fella in the car with us who had some J Mayer stuff on his phone. I have never really given the guy a chance as most of his stuff is much to pop-like for my taste. I know he is a great player but... Anyway, the shit this guy was spinning through, (only a few tunes), was newer and really solid. Bluesy and had lots of soul. Maybe the Guys did pick him for reasons other than drawing folks to the venues.
Carry on and enjoy the shows!
Trigger pulled for Worcester. Date night.
So how does the free live stream on Saturday night work?
I listened to a recent show the other day and I was sorta underwhelmed. I won't say it wasn't good, but I can't say it was great. Lacking something. No real energy. Maybe it was the night. I don't know what night I heard.
Cmon Schwerty, you can h
God dammit fat fingers
The dog whistle beckons Schwerty
Just got back from the Verizon Center show. It pretty much kicked ass. The setlist is up already: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/dead-a...c-3f53913.html
First of all, John Mayer kicks ass. The band sounded great. Burridge on Bass is very very solid. Jeff Chimenti on keys is definitely worthy, not very featured except on on a nice solo on Eyes of the World but solid in the mix. Highlights were a smoking Fire on the Mountain, a great Big Boss Man (an old fave of mine) and Wheel, a favorite and a great version. Wilson Pickett's "Midnight hour" closed out the show, that was nice. Touch of Grey for an encore.
Great show. Bob was in good form and Mickey and Bill are just on it. Oteil and Chimenti are top-notch. But Mayer was pretty much great. It's obvious he's listened to this music his whole life and loves it and man he can play. Plus some nice vocals. Guy is a stud.
If you have a chance go git sum.

I guess it depends on your perspective. I hope it got better. Show I heard was slow.
I think you must have heard the Albany show, which was the bands first gig. I could see it being tentative maybe. I dunno, what can I say, tonight was good.
it's good to be good
Just got my miracle for msg tonight...
With backstage passes. This just keeps getting better..
Boo yah
Nice Aldo! Have a blast!
Sweet Aldo. The stream is spotty at best.
Crowd looks bored and John Maher looks like a douchebag.
Oh and thanks AmEx for the banner ads and letting me know the song titles.
Haters gonna hate.
Personally I am outraged at corporate sponsorship of concerts. Yeah right.
I thought they sounded great, I was especially stoked on Oteil. He is awesome
I'm no hater. I just have high expectations after the summer shows. Mayer seems to be a fine technician, but he doesn't play like someone that knows how to improv or get psychedelic.
I'd certainly like to hear Oteil a bit higher in the mix. He dropped a few nice bombs though. Mickey and Bill could back up a bagpipe band and I would watch!
The set lists seem to be pre-arranged (although they seemed to skip something after Jack Straw at the end of the first set) leaving no room for the "what should we play next" part of what makes a Dead show great.
Read an interview with Oteil, he said Bob told him to listen the recordings from the 90's because that's where the songs were heading.
Stoked for Worcester
Solid solid solid. I'm a buyer. Was told backstage but turned out to be club access. That's ok free drinks n food at intermission was probably safer for me than meeting anybody.... Think will ferrell with tranq shot in neck ... Ha
We'll have to just keep believing there's coal buckets of blow back there buttah
Cold rain, help slip franklin, strong strong, throw in a Stephen, Stella bdown encore, great night, theses guys are gelling quick, killing it for me . Hope for you too. I saw a lot of happy heads last night...
Dso sat in my home court, then tarrytown, it's like 85 all over again.
Bring it. Go see these guys.
Hola sofia!!!!
Montclair!!!
John Mayer > Trey when playing with the boys. Chicago was great but I feel the notes by John Mayer bring me closer than Trey's did.
Ding! Exactly.
Really glad I didn't go to Chicago .
Y'all oughta watch The Other One on Netflix.
Raise yer hand if you ever actually saw the Grateful Dead.
61 is a good start
lets make this as competitive as possible. i saw more shows, mayer's better than trey, chicago, slow, bad vocals....bunch of critics.
chill out for fucks sake.
the TLEO was strong, loved that.
Hand raised high!
Chicago was a blast. Would do it again. It had its own awesomeness.
Way more heads and scene than this tour brought. At least to DC.
