Swedish one says "Swedish Lift Workers Organization". The other Swede it just says Ski Patrol. SLAO is the acronym for Swedish Lift Workers Organization in Swedish.
I agree with a lot that you said... and it would seem that most patrollers would. So how do you lose that not wanting to connect unless they need something (half the time not even an emergency)?? I sure don't know... but a lot of great points made on here, and most seem to be saying keep a professional look and don't abuse the power by being nazi's. Although a lot of skiiers will bitch about not being able to ski out of bounds.. and turn around and sue the resort if they twist an ankle skiing somewhere they shouldn't have.
I dunno... these guys look like they got their shit together despite not being in red and black!

I’m all for black with white cross.
Let them blend in when free skiing.
It’s a rough job when shit hits the fan. And they aren’t paid enough.
Maybe they should be on fluorescent yellow with reflectors like a highway worker. #sarc
#necrobump
PS. The redcoats are coming! I guess it’s nice to see them when you’re poaching.
At my local area the uniform is all black and was with a fluorescent Green cross similar to what you see advertising MJ dispensaries. After 3 years of jokes the newer uniforms have an Orange cross.
We got a change in color scheme this year and it's much better.
Patrol went from all black to red top/black pants eliminating the confusion with lift mechanics that wear all black.
Instructors went from all red to all blue eliminating confusing them w patrol because most presumed the most visible color, red, was patrol as well as red being a color associated w first aid.
Courtesy patrol remains yellow/black pants.
Lift mechanics remain all black.
Yes, when I first visited my buddy at said resort and saw the green cross, I laughed and said “Safety Meeting?”. He wasn’t so amused after probably hearing that a thousand times previously.
A light, oversized red vest with white cross stashed in the ski pack is a good way to get to the front of the queue on a pow day after initial opening, however. As is a black vest with “Lift Maintenance” stenciled on the back. Chest harness radio required for both. :fmicon:
haha1 1 my fav stories is blowing a gate at Alta by accident yrs back..saw it was closed at last second and was forced to duck it or crash. (lol i was lapping lower baldy traverse and didnt see they closed it between runs)
usually im not super fast, but that day i was haulin ass... >that patroller caught me like 1/2 way to the midstation..and was pretty pissed, god blesss em. Took a few to stumble out what happened and I didnt poach it on purpose.
good job keepin us safe team!
