Frankly, I think you should go for it. You'll have a ton of ladies coming your way through the casino, good tips, and full bennies. Insurance isn't cheap nowadays and that's a huge bonus when you do the stupid shit we do on the hill.

I'd put in a vote for waiting tables over Starbucks. Harder work, but if you can find a fancy restaurant in the casino (?) you can bank tips and work with all hot chicks. Said hot chicks will be much more interested in partying with Señor Kush than the phd toting, faux Euro-trash, gauloise-smoking, yuppie crowd that I see working at Starbucks...

Nothing wrong with free enterprise, but in SoCal during the 90s the Starbuck's business model was to go into a location already served by an existing coffee joint, bakery or doughnut shop and then take most of the customers away. And by location, I'm talking about across the street or the opposite corner of the same block. It was/is a predatory method of operation.Quote:

I walk past no less than ten coffee shops on my way to work every day. I've tried them all, some many times, and now get my (drip/americano) coffee at Starbucks every day. I agree that on average the smaller shops have better coffee, but there are some other factors (cost, attitude - which I think in general the small shops in Seattle dish out much more readily than starbucks, etc.).
It's interesting how people decide to hate a business when it becomes successful. I understand the thinking when there are questionable practices contributing to the success, but if that's the case w/Starbucks I'm not aware of said practices. I don't know many other businesses that offer full benefits to part-time employees. That's pretty good.
Yes, they put small shops out of business, but that's the small shop's fault. If you're losing business to a competitor, you improve or you die, it's really simple. The market decides, not the businesses.
All that stuff about SUVs and fancy clothes is a little crazy. I know what you're talkking about, but if you're deciding you don't like someone or assuming you know their "type" because of their clothes, you're being more superficial than them.
Rider...KQ and others are right w/ respects to the Benefits, specifically the health insurance. That alone may make it worthwhile.
Others...Interestingly, I read an article awhile back in the Journal that indicated that for some, drinking Starbucks is an introduction to "better" coffee and in some cases increases a drinker's sophistication level and may actually contribute to a desire to move to a non-starbucks/even more specialty locally owned coffee house....of course that's coming from the Journal, a super pro "corp" source.
Being fully caffeinated is good and coffee will keep you regular… GO FOR IT!
