Incidentally, the central US figure in the American plot, Kermit Roosevelt, was a neighbor in 'Sconset, back in the '80's, when I had no idea who he was.

I imagine a lot of Iranians feel the same way about being personally judged by outsiders on the basis of their government as a lot of us do. For the most part it's the same the whole world over--the assholes run things, the rest of us just try to get along.
