I rock climb a lot (or currently just train due to ACL surgery). Elbow is flaring up and I am doing planche progressions, wrist curls and handstands to cure it. Has worked in the past so i am hopeful it will again.
Most of these issues stem from muscular imbalances so you can do shots and surgery but that is just fighting symptoms, not the cause.
MRI shows a tear. Got another cortisone shot at last appointment though and still pain free. Going to ortho surgeon in July for a consultation.
And now for some reason the issue has gone away. I guess the answer was to play more golf. I'm good with that.
Ortho recommended PT. It helped some. If anything it was nice leaving work and getting my arm messaged for an hour chatting with PT techs. The doc said it should go away, even with the small tear. It's mellowed out enough that I just live with it now.
Resurrecting this and checking in with chronic tennis elbow and at a crossroads. Had pretty bad pain last year, cortisone shot in November and after a few days pain was totally gone but still didn’t have mobility to fully lock out elbow. Continued normal activities, mtb, skied, swam, cut wood and then tried wake boarding for first time as a 42 yr old grown idiot and pain from a year ago is back.
Cortisone shot #2, shock wave?, surgery consult?
Pain is nearly unbearable for certain activities, motions and angles. Like extending outward to grip and pick up a 12 oz mug of coffee.
Either prp or wave shock therapy will fix it, at least it did f6it me

Have not had pain…
Appreciate all the input, and going to research some non shot/surgery options. Also going to get serious about rehab and exercising to build strength like I should have first go around. Consult scheduled for Monday.
Followed up with Dr. Today, he recommended the PRP treatment that i will get done Thursday AM.
Sounds pricey
Have no idea what to compare it to, but he said bring $750 cash and leave the insurance companies out of it. If I can recover from this perpetual elbow torture I’ll be happy with the $ spent, especially if I’m back close to 100% for fall mountain biking.
If nothing is torn, then generally it is an imbalance. Work those extensors.

Rice bucket time.
Thanks, I was already halfway down the Ozzy man reviews rabbit hole and now I’m on a rice bucket detour.
Also picked up a set of those foam twist bars, and definitely plan to ease into some sort of PT or rehab regimen.
Maybe 20-30 seconds per movement to start. Goal is to work the imbalance slowly. Every other day ish.
As of this morning my Wallet is slightly lighter and my right elbow has about 4ml of platelet rich plasma in it. Going back in 6 weeks to see if it took or not. No anti-inflammatories for 2 weeks and no real restrictions on light duty or rest.
Back to orthopedic on Monday, roughly 6 wks after the PRP injection. There is zero improvement and as much or more pain and same level of restricted mobility as before. We’ll see what’s next but disappointed in outcomes so far.
PRP takes longer, basically you are tricking the body into repair work/ injury site for your problem so the body will use its own stem cells to fix that area. For my knee it was closer to 4-5 months before i noticed improvement which got better as time went on.
Full on stem cell injection is quicker but also add a zero on the end of the price.
Older also generally means heal slower.
Bumping this up. For anyone who got the theraband thingy, did you get the red one?
Silly question I know, always red

Thanks for bumping this! I've been dealing with this in my right elbow/forearm for a few months and for some reason never considered using a band or flexbar to help strengthen it.
