The splitboard interface that your bindings attaches to also sets you about .25iches higher off your board so toe and heel drag is less of an issue than with a standard board.
i wear a size 13. straps bindings and clickers (hard to find clickers my size). i like the wide boards for the float as well. and if its crusty or hard, losing an edge due to toe dig is no fun.
