You can question all you want -- I've been VERY tolerant of Brett. I've asked him on several occasions to mellow the fuck out. But he doesn't get it. It's a really big internet -- there are plenty of places that he is free to rampantly fuck with people. I generally have a pretty thick skin and I let this go on WAY longer than I should have. All of this negative bullshit is dragging the board in a direction that I hate to see it go. We've had a large number of the most productive members of this board decide to leave largely because of the unchecked bullshit that Blurred slings and the effect it has on the vibe and the stoke of the community. Over the last year, I've had AT LEAST a hundred requests to ban the guy and I've stuck up for him, free speech, fight your own battles, etc..

If you don't like my decision, sorry. It's not something I've done before, and hopefully won't have to do again.

October of last year Chris offered us a good refuge as a board. Any decision on his part is perfectly allowable.

We're all grownups, somewhat. Each responsible for their own actions. The internet is a netherland of social mores, where lines drawn are easily bent. In reality, much of the shit that has gone down here could easily be construed as stalking and harassment if it occurred in the real world, given a criminal complaint and a dick prosecutor. Should the certain degree of anonymity the web provides us also allow us to forego basic decencies? Yeah, I know freedom of speech is a constitutionally guaranteed right and even has a spillover effect to the internet. But this is the house Owens built. And if he asks me to leave his house, or throws me out, I would be obliged to do as he says. He has not been unreasonable in the house rules he has requested his guests follow.

Look - this wasn't about a single incident. It's about a pattern of behavior that I'ved asked nicely in the past to have corected. How many times should I have to ask? Today was just the last straw. If I listened to most of our users, this would have happened a LONG time ago.

I've been out for the past few hours, taking care of car issues, and had time to think about all this. I didn't have any clue ONS would take action, and when I learned requests had been made before all this about him being banned (yes, ONS told the truth about people asking for him to be banned) I was against it since I don't like moderated forums, but given the bizarre stalker-ish nature of what he did...well, I'll remain silent.
Before I saw what had happened I had decided that I'd stop posting here and on the Powboard since it's not worth it to me to have an internet weirdo continue with this sort of stuff, but given what's happened since I last saw this, well...I guess I'll reconsider.

Thanks to all of you who understood why this was sort of shocking to me, and why I felt I had to bring it up. I personally don't intend to continue discussing it.

I'll admit Brett contributed some good stuff once in a while. But it wasn't worth sorting through the rants, insults and sick shit he posted the majority of the time to get to it. Sucks when you have to resort to censorship, but I think it was in the best interest of the community.
