I'd take Fitzy a little more seriously if he actually spilled some of that brew.
Notice how animated he is but his brew hand remains steady as a rock?
Some might call that expertise, the way he is able to isolate his brew hand like that and not waste a drop of the precious amber nectar.
But I feel it detracts from his chaotically funny review style. If he was actually sloshing brew all around in wild abandon then I would truly believe that he really did love the film (clothes line pecker remarks aside).
Can I have my $8.50 back, because that shit was lame.
Saw it tonight...great flick. Not to beat a dead horse but Heath Ledger will make your skin crawl...and I'm no Ledger fan, previously.
Bale was good, to, as was the dude who played Two Face (Thank You for Not Smoking guy). Overall, I'd give it a 9 out of 10.
I'll say it, though--it coulda been 45 minutes shorter.
great movie, i fucking loved every minute of it. go see it.
This is exactly what I was thinking, walking out of the theater today.
This movie is absolutely worth seeing. Solid performances throughout, not predictable Hollywood schlock in the slightest.
If I have any criticism of this movie at all, it's that there are a lot of different storylines running through it -- and it's 2.5 hours long as is -- but many are given fairly superficial treatment. For example, there's next-to-no character development for Bruce Wayne, but the movie works fine as it is anyway.
Watch Nolan's "Batman Begins" first, if you haven't seen it already, and "The Dark Knight" flows along nicely from where the first left off.
Dark and disturbing but not devoid of hope.
Awesome movie, love how dark it is. I would go even further to say that the movie would have been better if it had more R-rated material. Not a fan of Ledger but he played the Joker so well it seemed a little empty that we never saw him use his knives even just a little as he waved them in people's faces.
Will probably go see it again, and probably at the IMAX this time. Possibly the best movie I've seen this year (though Iron Man was the shit) and definitely the best villain performance in a very long time.
Only thing that ruined it a little for me was Bale's voice as batman. Overdone much?
By far the best movie i have seen in a long long time. Ledger was simply amazing.
I just got home from it. Another vote for "it kicked ass".
Holy shit! The intensity and darkness was awesome. What a rollercoaster of hopes and dashed hopes. Best movie of the year by far.
The only problem I had... weren't those Illinois plates? I thought Gotham was NYC... and though Zimmerman is awesome, I miss properly applied traditional music music:
Batman TAS... watched growing up... very dark for a cartoon
So, did anyone else get the feeling that Joker suddenly disappeared from the movie towards the end? He could have died, then Batman "saves" him and he's just left hanging there. WTF? After that big of a performance and such a huge character in the movie, no exit?
If Heath doesn't get an Oscar for this, the movie industry has serious problems.
That...was...incredible...
I'd say most of the movie was in Chicago...and yeah, I did notice the plates, and was wondering the same thing. Couldn't have they just made some made up plates for those two Suburbans...or just have no plates at all?
Just make sure you see the film with good sound...don't go to the rinky dink theater. I really wanted to see it in IMAX like I did with Batman Returns but that was sold out even when I starting looking last Sunday.
The plates looked like Illinois plates (same colors/font) but said Gotham instead of Illinois. I was wondering the same thing until there was a close up of the Lamborghini

[SPOILER!]
We were disappointed that there was not any actual flaming bat-holes anywhere in this movie.
I wish, just once, in one of these batman movies that a cartoon lettered KA-PLOOEEY would pop up on the screen during a fight scene.
That movie was pretty much the definition of "intense". The descent into madness, chaos, and panic was quite engrossing.
I had high expectations and they were met. I loved it!
Why can't Batman fight off a couple of dogs?
Ok...
UN
FUCKIN'
REAL
Best movie of the year, and in my opinion...best "superhero" movie to date :yourock:
Awesome movie. Best movie I have seen in a long time.
not to mention multiple dogs, think how many cops a criminal can get away from but how many pissed off cop doggies can the same criminal deal with...
Anyways I thought it was sweet, the batman's voice acting was lacking but otherwise I didn't even mind the length, in fact I just felt like I was allowed to be immersed for longer. Not too mention two-face.
Minus the Batman voice that movie was freaking awesome!
As far as his voice...it is supposed to be full of anger, not to mention it is not supposed to sound ANYTHING like Bruce Wayne.
So, wouldn't it benefit him by keeping his real identity secret by using an over-acted, rough sounding voice?
wow, I am a dork....:)
OK - Batman Begins kicked ass. I can't wait to see The Dark Knight.
Yeah, but as a viewer, the voice was way over-the-top and distracting.
As for the rest of the movie, I appreciate the breadth of the script, but I feel like they didn't get to drill down to anything really good because it was so sweeping. Maybe a 90-minute Joker movie would have been better. Still, it's good.
Is seeing the movie on IMAX much better than a standard movie theater? Our nearest IMAX theater is ~1 hour away.
A Top 10 action movie of all-time.
It has a 9.5 out of 10 on IMDB with over 90,000 votes. That is #1 on their all-time list!
God damn that was a good movie.
Wow...
Last night the kids had a sleep-over and my wife is out of town on business. So what does a guy do? No not troll the bars or anything, he becomes the creepy guy alone at the theater. Went to the 9:40pm show at a small town theater with kick ass sound and about 5 other people. I'm not usually a fan of comic book movies but this movie blew me away. Ledger was by far the best but I really liked the whole movie. I hated all but the first in the Batman series of movies, not a Spiderman fan, and Hulk and the rest didn't even get on my radar. This movie was dark, creepy, just plain cool. Didn't come across as a typical comic movie. Like others have said, everytime Ledger was on the screen, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up and I was extremely creeped out by the character. Oh, and I loved the pencil trick! By far one of the top movies I've seen in my almost 40 years of watching movies.
Jay
damn that was a good movie.
Watch me make this pencil disappear...
loved every minute of it
I might have to go see it again.
Here is what I mean about the music... Shirley Walker's mature evolution of Danny Elfman's theme to the original batman was pure genious and what's more, the eery apprehensive music FITS the Dark Knight well. HERE IS PROOF:
