Vail Pass was a SHIT SHOW this morning. Not snowing much or hard, yet somehow like 5 people had flipped their rigs? Weird. Anyway, light snow falling this morning in V.
That sounds expected. Two weekends ago on DRY conditions (after the big storm), fucking Denverites were in the fast lane going 50 mph. You figure everyone in the state would have some experience drying in DRY conditions by now. :nonono2:
Just came back to Avon from Copper, coming over Vail pass was a shit show. This time it was nuking, saw atleast 3-4 rigs on the side of the road and a few cars wrecked. Got about 2.5 inches on the ground in Avon.
just got home from Summit. Puking on the pass and again a SHIT SHOW. East bound was way more of a disaster but both were junk. Got about 3 inches here in V. Also malamute is apparantly sick and has shit about 2 inches of liquid ick on floor. That is all.
Last time I checked, YOU live on Welton between 16th and 17th, work as a paralegal for a law firm in Denver, and have a WEEKEND home in Breck.
Just keeping your 'core' local status in check.
As for the weather, the models have slowed the incoming system considerably and the brunt of the snow should be falling tomorrow through tomorrow night. Looks like advisory levels for most of the mountains, though that could change depending on the split in the system. Another weaker shortwave for Sunday, with yet another possibly stronger system for Christmas Day. In sum, we should be in a colder and active period for the next ten days or so.
Yeah, it looks pretty good into the New Year. The 6-10 day had above normal precip at an above average forecast confidence. With such a progressive flow, the hard part will be the timing of each individual shortwave in the flow.
I should add that there will be another shot at snow next Thurs into Friday, but as of now the models are closing that system off and it will likely favor the Southern mountains.
It pays to have good friends looking out.
Just sayin' ... CO people heading east on Sunday nights drive like idiots. And it's only a WEEKEND gig because my other services aren't paying well these days.
Anyway, back to topic. Next Thursday into the weekend is looking good ... even if we get 1/2 the ppt that's coming through the PNW. :)
Just started nuking in Breck...
Heard 6" fell in Wolcott through this morning.
Been snowing most of the morning, and I just looked out side and it is hammering. Prettying big flakes and coming down hard.
4 thur the day yesterday in V. Didn't snow at all last night, but around 7am it started hammering. It is now 2pm and it looks pretty much done, a few flurries. I would guess we picked up another 4" or so.
Yeah, it only ended up being a few inches up here when it stopped.
snow advisory extended thru midnight. Hopefully it will start back up tonight and tomorrow will hold some fresh lines. Beaver Creek or touring on Vail Pass for Sunday. Another good weekend in store, days 15 and 16. I officially love living in the mtns.

whats it doing in the vail area now?
being cold
snowing? how much accumilation?
not snowing currently. Got 4 over night and i guess another 4 at the base during the day today. Maybe another 1-3 tonight, fingers crossed
steamboat is doing quite well now. could be spending new year's there if it keeps up.
Nice little swipes of snow we are getting right now. Snowed all day at V today. Was really not crowded at all. Threw our selves off lots of stuff today, tomorrow I will be sore.
Looks like more of these small "refresher" storms thru the end of the year. WooooHoooo!!!
Supposed to get progressively larger this week.... I've got my fingers crossed.
While there is no single shortwave to point your finger at this week, we'll have a good period of WNW orographic flow through the new year. Snow totals should be decent.
WOW!!!! If that was just 6 inches then I complain about the weather......wait.....nevermind. Alot deeper than the 6 reported up at V today. Not crowded at all and still fresh lines at 3pm. Great little storm, amazing day. Everything was soft and filled in great. Looks like another 3-6 Wednesday night and maybe a big one on the weekend? What a great December, lets hope it doesn't stop!!!!

4-8 tonight and tomorrow. Friday and Saturday don't look as big as they did at first, but NYE might be big. What a GREAT pattern!!!!!!
wow, the boat is doing awesome. should be headed up there for new year's with the gf. 4%, not sure if i've ever had the privilege. can't wait.
-4 tonight
-15 Thursday night
-10 Friday night
brrr
Looks like Vail missed out on this one. Just a skiff.
i most certainly do read them, like a rabid wolverine. That makes no sense, but you know what I mean. Looks like to me it was going to be mainly an upslope event for the FR. The 6-12 which was predicted just doesn't look like a reality is all. We shall see, being proved wrong about snow totals is fine with me.

It hasn't even started yet! Do you not read the forecast discussions?

JONG ;)
Rontele- This thing still gonna drop any snow or is it done now? Also if I am reading it right, Friday looks like just an inch or two. Does NYE still have big snow potential?
They all have big snow "potential".... but they fizzle out faster than Akili Smith.
I take exception(not really) to Rontele telling me it was just getting started. This thing did indeed fizzle. It "snowed" all day in Vail, however it was so small that it was at a rate of about an inch a year!!!!
I was on Fremont Pass at 2pm today and it was 1 degree, tonight is gonna be cold. Think Snow!!!
Snow advisory again for the next 36 hours or so. I feel better about this storm than the last because the moisture looks better. Fingers crossed that we get the 7-14 projected. Next week looks like high pressure and warm temps until Friday or so. Come on Ullr, keep it coming!
