I may be at the showing on the 28th, but I already have tickets to see the Killers in MSG so I doubt it. I sort of want to see this opening act too....
Sell the Killers tickets. I saw them in concert and was very, very disappointed...love their studio stuff too. Just no energy.
Got tickets for may 1st/ I'm psyched
i'll be going for sure. laid claim to woodsy's extra ticket.
should figure out a good bar to rally at. work on 38th so i know a few around here/ 9th ave, but pretty shitty divey in the end....
c'mon now
ski movies & dive bars are like mac and cheese
There is a trailer for Steep on OutYo.
Also a 16 minute interview on lx.com.
'bout time we got a trailer. thanks for posting
TUESDAY, TUESDAY, TUESDAY.....[/mtr]
They just posted a bunch of production photos from the filming on the Documentary Group site. Some good behind the scenes shots.
whos going tomorrow? i tried to get some tickets earlier this evening and im sailing all day tomorrow..
I'm guessing Gaffney and Stump didn't have multi-million dollar budgets. I'm not saying that TGR and MSP are not good but I think they can do much better. It’s not even the skiing its the way the skiers articulate their thoughts. And the info they give, its a story.. I think thats it. ????
Yes, "Steep" is a documentary covering part of the history of our sport. Seems like in essence, it could be similar to "Riding Giants".
They put a couple of years of work into it, and seemingly covered a lot of the bases.
I'm looking forward to the Bill Briggs coverage. As I had the opportunity to get to know him, and he's a super cool guy.
cool to see Anselme Baud's name popup. His guidebook is nuts - especially the green lines.
Can't wait for wider distribution on the movie
Maybe if this film is well received, we might see more stuff like it in the future.
Takes more work, but has more shelf life, IMO.
On the other hand I will never stop buying TGR and MSP. Steep is one movie; TGR and MSP have been doing ski movies for decades and have moved skiing further then anything (WM?). If you go to any ski area in the world you see people trying to be the star in their own private TGR and MSP movie in their minds. TGR and MSP are the artists and Steep is making a very good copy with some new colors. However, my movie always has Kevin Andrews in it.
(feel free to add jokes here:rolleyes2 )
On a completely other tribeca film festival- non steep related note, had a friend give me tickets for Passio at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine last night, and it was fucking mindblowing. Live Choir/ Orchestra to some of the most twisted, anguished silent footage ever.... Honestly if you are in the NY area, you should see this movie. Crazy.
Back to the topic at hand. Steep. yah. stoked.
just back from the show, was excellent. great cinematography, editing, skiing etc... really cool old school footage from 70s,80s,90s!
SPC
Call the Ball
otherwise we will end up at that Irish bar on 8th up from MSG I always like
Fuuuuckkk.... i have a soccer game at 630 downtown, but will probably be done by 730.... fuccck... have to figure out what to do. will pm/ call you.
After watching the trailer and interview I really want to see this. I didn't see anything on Lou's site about other showings, anyone know if it is going on tour?
I've looked around on the web to find something about a tour or other screenings and I haven't found a thing. I'd watch the Documentary Group website for info on new showings.
