The Snake here in the Jackson area is almost clear---over a month early!
Jellystone = fishing well.
Upper Green = Excellent (flows went up though...)
South Fork = Gushing but stable.
Henry's Fork = OK

I've been picking up a lot of large mouth's in 3 to 7 feet of water. Using Blue and White streamers, running them about a foot or two above the weed line. And, frog's, dead banking them of the shore, docks, ect...
The top streamer is 4 inches long.

Green Streamers are working well now (as is blue).. but fishing over deeper water. 20 to 25 feet of water, picking them up in the 10 to 15 foot range.
Frogs are working in shallows, white belly. Dead banking. Bass are hit them as soon as they hit the water.
Fucking Bureau opened the flood gates at Jackson Lake and fucked up the Snake river.
That's all.
The larger bass are moving back in to the shallows, sandy bottoms 6 to 3 feet of water.
Crayfish pattern's rusty brown and darker greens, large woolly buggers black, silver, white. Smaller streamers blue and white.
so, FINALLY got back to the hometown to fish the beaverhead. big hole is closed, obviously, but the beav was pretty good. beadheads as always, and had alot of luck with humpys. the water is HOT. probably 60+ degrees. wet wading is wonderful. it was a great day, sight fishing, crawling on your belly to get to the surface feeders kinda day. amazing. why did i move to wyoming? anyway, for that side of the world, the north fork of the shoshone, the south fork of the shoshone, the sho sho below the damn, the clarks fork, the whole nine yards is done. muddy, nasty, at the rate its going it will be good again in the winter. why did i move to wyoming???????:cussing:
I am wondering the same thing. WY has some hidden treasures and plenty of good water that everyone knows about but MT is where it's at! Too bad I can't convince my Wife to move back. :mad:Quote:

that would be cool. that would actually be amazing. so anyway the newest from up here. people have been finding dead fish around where the n fork and the s fork roll into the dam. shell creek and most of the rest of the big horns is good, but we are still f*cked here. water is still murky, nasty, not really that great. i guess really high on the n fork up towards the east fork it is clear, but damn, thats a long way up there. crandall creek and sunlight creek were good a couple of weeks ago. this season has really kinda sucked. no fishing on lunch break for sure....gotta drive too far :-s
fishing has been pretty good in montana lately. the water has cooled off and just about all the restrictions have been lifted. water is low for sure, I floated the blackfoot maybe a month ago and we had to drag the raft more than a few times. had some great dry fly fishing, probably my best day of the year.
the browns are just starting to run, my favorite time of year. i pulled a 18" brown out of bozeman creek in my backyard a week ago. had a few good days on the gallatin and hit up the yellowstone last friday. as usual, the yellowstone was windy and lots of whitefish, caught a nice rainbow on a streamer though.
my brother and a bunch of his friends are coming out from maine for a week on the missouri in a couple weeks. should be a good time of fishing and drinking if any of you wyo mags feel like a road trip. we'll be up on the mo from 10/12 through the 21st
between looking forward to that trip on the mo and how good fishing has been, im hardly even thinking about skiing.

caught 5 small browns on saturday at beaverkill, couple on nymphs in pocket water then a couple on caddis and isonichhia? dries. saw some big fish working the hatch in the early evening
They finally started to drop the flows on the Snake! Good fishin' should come in about a week!
Jellystone has been good.
Green is heating up as well!

Cape Cod Bay is still producing big bluefin.
This may be endgame on tuna for this year but 3 fish in the boat and a sore as hell back. :D
The bass on the other hand are being uncooperative and with the coming temp drops from this rain it should light back off in force.
