very cool. looks like a great idea for photographers.
Yes, photographers, skiers, snowboarders, snowlerbladers, snowmobilers, pretty much anyone with hands can find a use for these gloves. I have given a bunch of gloves to different photographers and they like them a lot and say they are very useful, the best gloves they have used for shooting.
There was actually a photographer who saw them being used by a gear tester with Gear Trends. He borrowed the gloves and you can see what he had to say in the review:

Also, it was mentioned putting a trigger finger on some mittens, I will have to throw that suggestion into the hat and see what we can do.
We are planning on adding some pockets on the mittens for heater packs to go over the fingers. The sky is the limit on the different stuff you can do with this simple zipper function.
I am stuck here in Denver at a rep show talking to buyers about the gloves and they are diggin them, but it just dumped in Utah where I ride and I am thinking I really need to get back home and do some "product testing" because you can never be too sure and/or you can never get enough of the white stuff from the sky.
Heh. You are a natural maggot.
Welcome, Jong.
May I suggest some sick guerrilla marketing steeze by offering discounted gloves for a limited time end-of-season deal to the folks on this website.
1) you would sell a few dozen pairs at the end of a season
2) they would be stoked and excited and tell their friends
3) word of mouth business will increase significantly.
It has worked before.
Just ask "Melanie" about her "dextrous as fuck" campaign(hey, she didn't get fired, did she?)
FYI, you can avoid a seizure and/or bringing your computer to its knees by going straight to the storefront purchase section
http://vogloves.com/store/
It is much, much easier to see the product this way.
BTW - $160 for the Darth Vader leather gloves? wow.
Yeah, good call on the link directly to the store... yet again, it kind of sucks and doesn't really show the gloves like I would like them to be shown. I guess I got some work to do... in the backcountry and think about that one.
End-of-year deals, huh... I see where you are goin with this one. Well, I think you are right. Everybody should be able to test out some of these gloves or mittens. Um, I will have to find out the best way and what price. Of course I would like to give them away because apparently you guys/gals are maggots and jongs.... still have not caught onto those yet but cool, I like being a maggot consuming all the powder I can as I slither down the mountain, something like that. The JONG part, um, guessing I will learn in time.
Apparently you have not yet seen this one:

after reading everyone's glowing reviews of the website, I'm now actually curious to check it out:tongue:
Confirmed - ten seconds later I know that is the worst website I have ever been to.
OK, so I bought a pair of these mittens and got them in the mail today (thanks Eric!).
Ya their website sucks, there going to fix it I'm sure. But let me talk about the mittens;
At the risk of sounding over the top; I think these are one of the nicest, most comfortable, and best designed mittens I have EVER worn! The zipper option is ridiculously useful! I love how the mittens have the finger slots in the top half of the glove. Very nice leather palm and thumb. I'm going to go test these babies out tomorrow skiing and get back to all of you.
*bump*
Anyone know where I can still get gloves like these?
I Bought 2 pairs from salty's 3 years ago. 1 pair I hosed working on mountain and the second pair's zipper finally gave up the ghost the other day.
The guys at Saltys told me they bought the whole inventory when this company (VO) went outta business (for a whopping $3 a pair ), but it appears that Saltys has sold out all of their large sizes... :( Wish someone would bring this idea back! I'm a photographer and these gloves are awesome for winter photography.
Doubt you'll find any if Salty's doesn't have them. I called the dude who actually owns CZip or whatever a couple years ago looking for a backup to my pair. He said they'd been long gone. I ONLY use mine when out shooting skiing now, which is unfortuantly almost never.
I did, however, just drop my pair on the desk of the glove product manager at BD, so hopefully something can spring back to life in the next couple years.
Absolutely the best gloves (functionality wise and pretty good in all other respects) I've ever used. The CZip is such a no-brainer and could be easily incorporated into most gloves.
Indeed great gloves. I still have a few pairs kicking around. I put them in front of Salomon a couple of years back, but it didn't go anywhere.
It sounds like Eric had to give up too large a share of the company to get the funding required to actually manufacture the gloves. It sounded like the majority owners decided the patent technology was worth more than actually making the gloves themselves and abandoned making the gloves in the hopes of licensing the technology to other glove manufacturers. :( I do think they'd be willing sell out of the business now though. It's been quiet for a long time.
