Edges are for groomers.
Here is what I use,

I keep it in my ski bag....sounds like I might need it a t Gordy's camp.
me thinks somebody's gotten into the Forester again ;)
You're a few years behind the times. Tuning tools have come a long way lately. Here's what I use for finishing edges.

I carry a gas powered generator in my pack for on-the-hill touchups.
actually he was spending most of his time in the air doing his patented "iron-cross" jumps.... much to our coaches chagrin. don't need edges when you're in the air.
btw, gordy - i still laugh about that one jump when you came out of the sky and landed on that poor dude, who never even knew you were 10 feet above him dropping out of the sky. good times... good times....
If you sharpen your skis, you'll have to flatten them to keep them in tune. Then again, you could just hum a few bars and call it good.
Is that why my pack has a tuning whistle?

I like to jib onto curbs.. works charms for the edges..
you can't tune if you don't have any tuning oil.
Str8, don't listen to any of these clowns. You need to learn from the master:

man im glad this guy made this thread... i have been improperly tuning my edges for years... i would grab onto a bumper of a car and get dragged down the street a little bit with my skis on in the summer ... it made the bases nearly flawless as well.. but after reading this ive realized i could have seriously hurt myself with my sharp edges... glad i dodged the bullet on that one... I wont put myself in a situation like that ever again
What I really need to learn is how to get my hair to look like that.
Fuck it. I broke down. I actually sharpened(as opposed to getting a full refresh, then de-tuning) my skis for the first time in a loooong time(15 years?). Hopefully this sacrifice will appease the snow Gods.
