well i think i want to come to peru in april maby? not sure. but getting to bolivia will be sooo cheap for you. do it if you get the chance. Bolivia is much safer than peru. those ppl probly got killed just they where walking in the wrong place and some might have thought they were with the USA gov.t that happens all over. anywhere where there is coke.
im gonna be here until midjuneish. so hit me up with a pm. a hiking trip would be great or something like that.
PC, I was just down there this summer (bolivia, peru, ecuador)....pretty sick!! Got some shit from the locals for being a gringo, but pretty safe overall. Paz is fucking crazy! Hit the oxygen bar?? ANyways, take er' safe and get home to ski some powder!!
I'd say that Peru is safer though....

Sham, I believe it was entirely drug related. I am going to be in Juaja, Junin, Tarma, and riding towards Huancavelica on my next trip in late April, so I have been following the story closely. Whatever remnants of actual Sendero Luminoso exist are most likely petty poseurs using the name to puff themselves up, IMO. Let us know what else you hear on the ground. If there isn't any real action in Ayacucho, It isn't really linked, I would think.
