Punched in ear by bouncer, now partially deaf: WWMD?

Just cause the dude is a bouncer and you were outside the bar does not mean he is allowed to assault you. I'f you've got one witness I'd take it to the cops and have the prick arrested for assault. You may not get him convicted but you'll put him out he cost of a lawer and some time/headache. I'd probably go after the bar for some compensation too. Fuckers need to be held accountable for the actions of thier employees then perhaps they'll think twice about hiring morons (probably not but you can hope)

For all the reasons listed above, the the place I worked at had at least 10 cops within a 50-foot radius of the bar. Sadly, these cops always sided with the bouncers regarding unnecessary assault.

People that were thrown out, were usually escorted out through the kitchen because it was far less crowded there (typically it took you a good 5-10 minutes to travel from one end of the bar to the other - it was that packed). So in the hallway from the actual bar to the outside area is where the bouncers would take all the free shots in the world they wanted. Once the got to the outside areas and the cops were in clean view of all that was happening, 9 out of 10 times the cops would tell the bouncers to ease up as if it was okay to take a shot here and there. Pretty fucked up if you ask me. Also part of the reason I left.

Definitely! Classic repondeat superior situation.

Could also come from the Spanish "Hombre" or French "Hommes" (although not a ton of French gangsters out there these days...)

doormen typically take the best offence is the best defence approach to avoid getting hit, stabbed or jumped. if your asked to leave a bar and you don't, expect to get kicked to the curb. you can also expect them to deny ever hitting you and they will have multiple witnesses to back them up. unless its on video, you have no case.

I talked to a bartender buddy of mine who works here in Vancouver and he thinks I'd have no case, considering I was drunk and I have no witnesses, and "bouncers can be jerks" and "this stuff happens, y'know?" and "there's no justice in Vancouver" etc.

In the doctor's words (middle-aged female) "aww, that's terrible. Maybe if you write a letter to the manager they'd be compassionate, cuz aww that's terrible."

You shold have filed a police report immediately, assault and battery charges help with the lawsuit. Assuming you didn't deserve it of course.
