My only comment is to remove the JONG part, this is solid info/review for everyone. Good work
Thank you Lee, this could have saved me a jonging or 2 a few months ago - but still great info!
I appreciate your time in putting this together, but don't appreciate that you're in Whistler and I'm stuck at snowless Tahoe:mad:

This is a great thread to subscribe to.
Nice, very nice! I'm taking an Avy I class this winter, just bought a shovel and probe and will be getting a beacon soon. I've been searching around here for the info I know is contained in this board, your putting it all together like that makes things much, much, much easier. If we ever ski together again, the post-trip beer's on me.
Lee - a labor of love.
Rad!! Thanks.
in case I missed it:
TGR Conway's Corner
Added
- Weather section (I know weather, snow pillow data for BC and WA/OR but not for other parts of the country so its regional-biased). Anyone else want to add weather info for other parts of the world please just post to this thread.
- Some field repair tips on Dynafits and Fritschi.
- Added template for organizing trips and expeditions
Again, any other suggested stuff?
oh awesome. you should include the FOBP link for (FREE) avy classes http://www.berthoudpass.org/index.php?s=20
Thanks LeeLau!
So you actually can get to use them.
Don't forget the hoochie mama!

Great work! Perhaps a link to basic first aid? Not a ton of stuff but the quizes would make for some decent overview: www.oeczone.com
Good Luck,
Jay
Added some more stuff- the OECZone link is great but I'm reluctant to do more then that as first aid is another whole topic in itself but absolutely necessary.
Added Ttips Avalanche Class forums - if I add individual class links then I'll have to update all the time.
Added a bunch of other misc stuff - Conway's Corner, MEC avalanche series
I endorse the Sticky proposal. Perhaps move to tech talk?
Nice try, but reading sucks. I'm off to build a gnar gnar booter in the quad.

Awesome job digging all that up. That will be a huge resource gide for me as I begin to take classes, and slowly venture into the BC this year.
Thanks man, good reference
Added
section on heuristic traps and human factors
ptavv's excellent burial story
OEC - first aid sections
After seeing some scary skin tracks on the Spearhead traverse this weekend thought this would need some bumpage.
should be STICKY in the Slide Zone forum
hey, this is awesome! i was just thinking about how to ask, without being too jongish, how one goes about learning about BC touring and where a good place to start would be. this definitely is a great start.
just one quick question, and maybe theres already a place on here that i just havent come accross yet, but how do you find an experienced "mentor" to show you the initial proverbial ropes? i dont know anyone that goes out in the bc, so im really kind of at a disadvantage of knowing who is reliable and trustworthy and who could really teach me what i need to know. how does a newbie hook up with some experienced treckers and are people usually open to people who might possibly slow them down in the interest of teaching them the ropes?
Someone needs to add AKPM's avy incident as a case study of what not to do.
