I don't know of anything in particular in the front range area, but I will just say that in mountain rivers and creeks it is sometimes easiest and best just to fin a bridge. The water is more likely to be deep in the middle, and its pretty easy to find bridges.
There is a small cliff jump (small as in 20' max) at the swimming hole just east of Tunnel 1 in Clear Creek canyon. Tubing form there down to the park is really fun. But, I'd wait a while for that because it is pretty serious when the water is high.
Anybody ever done any creek surfin' on an old car hood tied to the shore. Works well in the run-off.
There is a nice 40 foot or so jump into the lake below saint marys glacier.
Pretty chilly.
There is also a few good places in the south platte region which I unfotunatly do not remember well enough to give good directions. I went to one with options from 20 to 80feet.

Lately a ranger has been giving tickets for jumping into Gross. This worthless fuck ranger actually hides in the bushes until all the members of a group jump off the cliff then he gives them all a ticket for $50. This happened to a group of 4 girls last time we went up there and I've heard of it happening to others as well.
the problem with jumping into gross, barker, button rock, or pretty much any front range water is that you are prohibited by law from contacting the water in any way. so you can jump legally, you just can't hit the water :p
i have heard of people swimming all the way across gross once contacted by rangers to avoid getting tickets. seems like they are inadvertently encouraging people to stay in contact with the water longer and at greater peril.
but if you have ever been up there on a busy day, you can see how authorities would want to discourage the jumping because a lot of those people are just clueless.
i'd suggest a hot weekday and wear some chacos so you can hike back after you run (swim) from the fuzz!
Clearly they're not concerned about preventing people from jumping in the water if they wait to write tickets AFTER everyone jumps in. If they wanted to protect the quality of the water supply the ranger would be in plain view discouraging people from jumping, not hiding in the bushes so he can write more tickets.

Scary stuff. The group was about a mile upstream from the traditional tubing area in a part of the creek that's pretty gnarly. The water is really high/fast right now, but coming out of the canyon both days this weekend I saw a ton of tubers. Be careful out there no matter what you're doing in the river.Quote:

Gateway Park has a 40+ ft jump into the river, it's 15 ft deep at that point.
At Vine and Shields there's a spot to jump 20ft into the river from the bridge, and another to climb a tree and jump 20ft into the river.

there is some good spots on horsetooth res in foco. north end if i remember correctly. although the last year i was there the water wasn't quite high enough.
